Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 3 officially set for iconic venue this summer

The biggest and best series of fights in the history of women’s boxing is set to get another instalment later this year.

In their second encounter last November, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano somehow lived up to the hype once again with another classic fight.

Many believed that the scorecards were controversial which led to Serrano changing her mind about a trilogy despite being 0-2 against her rival.

The victor had been contemplating retirement and whilst new challenges like Natasha Jonas have called out Taylor in recent times, she wants to answer the critics by going 3-0 in the series.

Another important part of this rematch was the location with both Taylor and Eddie Hearn pushing for Croke Park in Ireland which has somehow alluded the Irish star throughout her legendary career.

Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 confirmed for July 11 at Madison Square Garden

Katie Taylor may not have got her big Irish homecoming for her trilogy fight with Amanda Serrano but the stops have still been pulled out to make it a historic night nonetheless.

On Friday July 11, the biggest trilogy in women’s boxing history will conclude at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York.

The main event will headline the first-ever all women’s pro boxing card at MSG and will be streamed live on Netflix, in collaboration with Most Valuable Promotions, with no additional cost for subscribers.

Their first meeting back in 2022 made history as the first women’s fight to headline the home of some of the biggest fights of all time with their second clash also being put into the history books after the event, which saw Netflix debut in live sports with Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, shatter viewing records.

It is also stated that both women will receive record-breaking purses for this event as Taylor puts her undisputed super lightweight titles on the line for a third time against ‘Real Deal’.

“I want to thank everyone at Matchroom, MVP and Netflix for getting the trilogy over the line and I can’t wait to headline at MSG again in July,” said Taylor. “I’m 2 and 0 against Amanda but it’s obviously a very special rivalry that delivers every time we step in the ring so I think it’s only right that we have the trilogy.

“The atmosphere for the first fight there was amazing and I’m sure it won’t be any different this time around. The numbers that got to see the last fight in November were incredible so hopefully those people will all want to tune in for the trilogy fight as well and we can deliver another great fight.”

Amanda Serrano criticizes Katie Taylor for not sticking to her word

In Amanda Serrano’s initial thoughts on the fight being made official, she referenced how in recent times, she has continued to push for women to compete over 3-minute rounds like their male counterparts.

In October of 2023, she defended her WBO, WBA and IBF world featherweight titles against Danila Ramos in the first 12, 3-minute rounds women’s title fight since 2007.

Her decision was not supported by the WBC with the governing bodies president, Mauricio Sulaiman, not sanctioning the fight.

Serrano held this against Taylor now that their third and likely final bout is confirmed to be 10 rounds of 2-minutes.

“I promised my fans they would see this trilogy, and I’m incredibly grateful that we get to complete our journey where it all began — at Madison Square Garden, live on Netflix for the world to see,” said Serrano. “I’m disappointed that Katie Taylor did not keep her word and make the trilogy 12 three-minute rounds, equal to the men. This is a record-setting payday for both of us, and we owed it to the fans to honor the handshake deal we made. She didn’t. But make no mistake, every time we share the ring, it is war, and I know Friday, July 11, will be the greatest yet because I will finally get the official W I deserve.”
