Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano suspended from boxing after fight of the year clash

Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano have been handed suspensions following their controversial encounter.

Taylor defended her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and IBO light-welterweight titles with a unanimous decision victory against Serrano at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Puerto Rican was left incensed by the decision and Serrano’s corner hit out at Taylor’s ‘dirty tactics’ after the 36-year-old suffered a huge cut to the head.

It didn’t end there as Serrano’s manager then clashed with Eddie Hearn inside the ring shortly after confirmation of Taylor’s win.

But, as the pair went glove-to-glove for 10 rounds, both Taylor and Serrano will have to wait at least 30 days before being given the all-clear.

Neither one of them would’ve fought within the 30-day window anyway, but precautions must be taken.

Katie Taylor keen to fight Amanda Serrano for a third time

All good boxing fights usually end in a trilogy and it would be remiss to not consider Taylor vs Serrano III being a possibility.

The Bray-born star admitted after her win that she was unsure about fighting the 36-year-old again, but didn’t entirely rule it out.

She told TalkSport: “I’ve beat her twice now, so is there any need for a trilogy? But if she wants it, it’s her fight [and] I can absolutely give it to her again.”

Serrano has already teased the propsect of a trilogy fight, stating: “Whenever our teams can agree on a trilogy I’ll be ready.”
