Jermall Charlo’s next opponent called out Chris Eubank Jr. seven times

Jermall Charlo is set to return to the ring after just one fight in the last four years.

33-0 Jermall Charlo, twin brother of Jermell Charlo, last fought in 2023 against Jose Benavidez Jr., who Crawford beat.

This fight itself was after a long lay-off, as Charlo hadn’t fought at all in 2022, and just once in 2021.

It seems that Charlo is aiming to put his inactivity behind him, though, as he is set to return on an Amazon Prime double-header alongside Caleb Plant, with the event hopefully setting up a fight between the pair.

Jermall Charlo’s opponent was obsessed with Chris Eubank Jr.

Charlo’s opponent for the event, which will take place on May 31st, is Thomas LaManna, a 39-5-1 boxer from New Jersey.

LaManna seemed set to face Charlo back in October, and tweeted at the time: “I’m bout to change my life forever.”

LaManna, nicknamed ‘Cornflake’, has lost to some experienced names, including Erislandy Lara and Brian Mendoza. His last three opponents share a combined record of 65-20-5, compared to Charlo’s last three, who had a record of 63-8-3.

LaManna has not been very active on X since October 2024, but his profile shows a host of call-outs for Chris Eubank Jr., frequently calling him “English Muffin”. LaManna called out Eubank upwards of seven times on his profile.

The fight never happened between the pair and Eubank Jr. is now set to face Conor Benn in a legacy-defining fight for the fighting families.

Caleb Plant’s opponent in the double-header is a ‘Mexican knockout-artist’

Plant will return to the ring after defeating Trevor McCumby in his comeback fight following the David Benavidez loss. Plant now holds two losses on his record, the other coming at the hands of Canelo.

Plant scored a KO of Anthony Dirrell after the Canelo loss and Plant even fought the ref to complete his celebration.

He will return against 15-2 Jose Armando Resendiz, who PBC claim in their fight announcement is a Mexican knockout artist.

Resendiz has won 11 of his 15 fights by stoppage. He lost most recently to Elijah Garcia, who upset Terrell Gausha days ago on the Sebastian Fundora vs Chordale Booker undercard.

Plant has been vocal about wanting big name fights against the likes of Charlo or Edgar Berlanga, and a win in May will set him up for just that.
