Jarrell Miller to face boogeyman-slayer on Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford card as ‘Battle of the Big Babies’ is axed

Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller was set to face Jared ‘Big Baby’ Anderson on the Canelo vs Crawford undercard, though Miller recently revealed Anderson has withdrawn from the fight.

Jarrell Miller has still not secured a win since his 2023 victory over Lucas Browne. His last two fights have seen Big Baby lose by stoppage to Daniel Dubois in the final seconds of their fight, and draw with Andy Ruiz last time out.

Miller was to face Jared Anderson in the battle of the Big Babies, but took to social media scolding the Roy Jones Jr.-trained fighter, before Miller attacked Deontay Wilder for also refusing the fight.

The controversial American may now have his replacement opponent lined up, and it’s a man who has one major win under his belt.

Jarrell Miller could face Michael Hunter in a separate event to Canelo vs Crawford

Though Miller vs Anderson had seemingly been planned for the Canelo vs Crawford card, there have been rumors that Miller will instead face Michael Hunter as part of a separate event on the week leading up to the pound-for-pound mega-fight.

Miller vs Hunter could land on September 13th, two days before the main event.

Hunter is 24-1-2 and has done little of note with his career for years now.

A stoppage win over Martin Bakole in 2018 came just over a year after Hunter took his only loss to Oleksandr Usyk, but besides a draw with Alexander Povetkin, Hunter’s record has looked quite sparse.

Hunter was ordered to face Kubrat Pulev for his WBA Regular title, with the winner in line to fight Fabio Wardley, though a clash with Miller may now be next instead for the American. Hunter hoped to bump into Wardley at Usyk vs Dubois 2.

Jarrell Miller and Michael Hunter both have questions to answer

With both men fighting career obscurity – Miller having not secured a win since 2023, and having no big-name victories on his record, and Hunter having not fought anyone of note for years, this fight is a must-win for both.

Hunter has faded into the background of the division, and his talent may have been dulled after years of fighting low-caliber opposition, whilst Miller has yet to prove that he’s capable of winning a big fight, as his draw with Andy Ruiz happened with the Mexican fighting through a broken hand for most of the bout.

This fight will be the biggest opportunity either man will land for a while, and the winner will likely go on to an even bigger fight, whilst the loser may fade into obscurity once more.
