Jake Paul is set to return to the ring on June 28th, 2025, when he takes on former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
As the son of one of the greatest Mexican boxers of all time, Chavez Jr.’s name carries some significance in the sport. Chavez Jr. has also defeated Andy Lee, as well as sharing the ring with Canelo Alvarez as he is a former world title holder.
The Mexican will be making his first appearance in almost a year. In his last outing, he was able to defeat former UFC fighter Uriah Hall in July 2024.
As for Paul, he will be fighting for the first time since his headline showing against Mike Tyson, which he won via unanimous decision.
However, one of Paul’s former opponents has given a mixed opinion on the scheduled bout.

Tommy Fury gives his honest take on Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Former Paul opponent Tommy Fury has given his opinion in regards to ‘The Problem Child’s’ next outing against Chavez Jr.
Fury and Paul met in February 2023, with the English fighter winning via split decision. Despite knocking ‘TNT’ down, Paul said Fury was the hardest puncher he had ever faced.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Fury began by saying, “I’ll put it this way, if I can box circles around Jake Paul, a former world champion who went 12 rounds with Canelo Alvarez, he should be able to do one better, shouldn’t he?”
Fury then went on to acknowledge that Chavez Jr., 39, was no longer in the prime of his career. “Age is a killer, isn’t it?”
“I’m not really interested, to be honest. He’s fighting someone past his pump. Way past his pump.”
Tyson Fury’s brother would add that ‘no one is interested’ in Paul’s fights due to his opponent selection. “They’re all past their best.”
Tommy Fury calls out Jake Paul for rematch following decision win
Fury returned to the ring for the first time since 2023 when he faced Kenan Hanjalic in Budapest on Friday night. Winning the bout via unanimous decision, Fury mentioned his former foe in his post-fight interview.
Speaking in the ring, Fury spoke about the struggles he faced in the recent past ahead of the fight, before being asked about Paul.
“Jake Paul is a —–,” Fury responded. “He’s running scared.”
“If Jake Paul wants to step inside this ring, I guarantee you, I’ll knock you [Paul] spark out… I’ll knock that bum out whenever he wants it.”
