It’s been a tough few weeks for Jake ‘The Problem Child’ Paul – but at least he can laugh about it now.
At one point, it seemed as if the controversial former YouTuber turned professional boxer was mere moments away from securing an insane payday against Canelo Alvarez.
Ultimately, the Mexican superstar was using Paul’s name (and the hype around the story) as a bargaining chip to land his own lucrative deal; a four-fight agreement under the Riyadh Season banner with Turki Alalshikh.

Jake Paul trolls Canelo Alvarez over fight fall-out at Super Bowl watch party
As almost everyone in the US is well aware, it was Super Bowl weekend this past week, with the Philadelphia Eagles getting their claws on the trophy with a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jake Paul wasn’t in attendance, instead, he enjoyed the game via a watch party hosted by Betr, and at one point came face-to-face with the man he’d just been trying to fight – well, almost.
The company brought out a little person in full boxing gear, sporting a straw hat, ginger beard, and wig in an obvious – if not rather cheap – imitation of Canelo.
Cries of “Kick his a—Jake” and “beat his a—” can be heard from the gathering crowd, although Paul wasn’t particularly keen to square off as he instead gave the impersonator a cheeky noogie.
Whilst Paul was left smiling at the prank, there’s no doubt that he’s still seething over the situation with Canelo as a whole; writing on social media that “No matter how much money they spend, they won’t be able to make a bigger fight than me and Canelito.
“Breaking news: Canelo Alvarez ducked me, Jake Paul, and is now an owned slave with no regard for the pride of the Mexican people who support him on US soil. it’s not surprising when his whole career he has done nothing for the sport of boxing outside the ring. I’m the new face of boxing.
Paul added in a separate post, “Done with this little money chasing, no respect having nut. Bent the knee and became just like the rest. Working on finalizing the next fight.”
Jake Paul called out by former heavyweight world champion boxer
Paul has been ruthlessly trolled world over the Canelo-Alalshkh situation by the wider boxing, although that’s not to say that well-known names aren’t still wanting to face ‘The Problem Child’ next.
Recently, Jake Paul was called out by former heavyweight world champion Andy Ruiz Jr, who famously knocked out Anthony Joshua in arguably one of the most shocking underdog upsets of the past decade.
“I’m down to fight my brotha,” Ruiz Jr. wrote underneath one of Paul’s posts on Canelo, adding “Let me know, it would be an honor for my fans and my Mexican people.”
Andy Ruiz Jr would go on to lose his rematch with AJ in December 2019 and has only competed three times since then; decision wins over Chris Arreola and Luis Ortiz, and a majority draw against Jarrell Miller back in August 2024.
Now that the Canelo fight is dead and buried, who would you like to see Paul face next?
