Jake Paul reveals ‘perfect’ weight for him as he maintains world title ambitions

‘The Problem Child’ has split opinions since beginning his boxing journey as the YouTube star continues to make noise.

Jake Paul currently has an 11-1 record as he aims to add another world champion to his resume when he faces Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Chavez Jr. goes into the bout off a win over former UFC star Uriah Hall, as Paul’s last outing was against Mike Tyson.

Paul’s meeting with Tyson was contested at heavyweight, however, the internet star will move down to cruiserweight to face Chavez Jr.

The weight in which Paul has competed at has changed on a number of occasions, however, he has now revealed where his preferred weight is.

Jake Paul feels that cruiserweight is the perfect weight class for him

Paul’s official weigh-in results range from 183.75 to 227.25 lbs, but he feels his ‘perfect’ weight is in between these figures.

In footage captured by DAZN, Paul said, “I think 200 lbs is the perfect weight for me.”

However, despite it being his ideal weight, the fighter admitted it was not an easy weight to achieve. “Making it [to the weight] gets more and more challenging I think as you get older for some reason.”

Paul then said that since starting his boxing career after acting, he has gained 35 lbs from ‘training every day for six years.’

Who would Jake Paul need to beat to become a cruiserweight world champion?

Paul has been vocal about his desires to become a world champion, despite taking a less traditional route into the boxing world.

However, should he wish to hold a world title at his desired weight, there would be tough challenges in front of him.

The current holder of the WBC World Cruiserweight title is 41-year-old Badou Jack, who has a 29-3 record.

The division has a unified champion in the form of Gilberto Ramirez, who will aim to defend his titles on the undercard of Paul’s headline bout. ‘Zurdo’ holds the WBA and WBO World Cruiserweight titles after Ramirez defeated Chris Billam-Smith.

Finally, the holder of the IBF title is undefeated Jai Opetaia, who has a 28-0 record with 22 knockouts.
