Floyd Mayweather has remained active in boxing, however, hasn’t had a professional bout in seven years.
Since leaving professional boxing in 2017 after Mayweather made a mouth-watering amount of money to fight Conor McGregor, the former five-division world champion has competed in exhibition bouts.
Speaking about exhibition fights Mayweather was subject to some criticism while watching Shakur Stevenson prepare for his title defense on February 22nd.
‘Money’ Mayweather has competed in eight non-professional boxing matches since 2018, including facing Logan Paul.

Eddie Hearn questions Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition bouts
In footage captured by Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn and the 50-0 boxer had a conversation about Mayweather’s exhibition bouts.
Speaking to the camera, Mayweather said, “Cause you know how I’ve been doing a couple of exhibition fights? He’s [Hearn] the one that’s been saying that I had no money, but he knows how many buildings I have.”
Hearn then responded by saying, “Yeah, I don’t know why you do it,” when speaking about the exhibition fights.
“I have fun. It’s fun, it keeps me in shape,” was Mayweather’s reasoning to the decision.
The promoter then encouraged the undefeated boxing star to return to professional competition, however, Mayweather denied saying he didn’t have to. “If I do an exhibition, I’m snatching up 10, 20, maybe 30 million dollars.”
Hearn conceded that as long as it was for substantial figures, he could understand the decision to compete in non-professional fights.
After the conversation, Mayweather would even go on to explain why he likes Hearn after their good-spirited barbs.
Mayweather claims he may fight in another exhibition bout in 2025
Speaking to Hearn, Mayweather hinted that he may return to the boxing ring for another exhibition bout in 2025.
“I may do another exhibition this year.”
When Hearn asked who the opponent might be, Mayweather seemingly had no concrete plans. “I don’t know, but I don’t need to [fight]. But I may do one to have some fun.”
Mayweather’s last boxing performance was in August of 2024, when he faced John Gotti III for the second time. The bout was officially declared a draw due to the fight being an exhibition.
However, the biggest story from the bout was when Mayweather swapped referees during the fight due to dissatisfaction regarding the officiating.
