‘I broke his nose twice’… Top Heavyweight contender claims to have made Daniel Dubois quit in sparring

Daniel Dubois is currently on an incredible run of wins that will see him fight Joseph Parker for the IBF World Heavyweight title on February 22.

Outside of arguably the pound-for-pound number-one boxer on the planet, Oleksandr Usyk, Daniel Dubois is the fighter in the Heavyweight division to look out for.

‘Dynamite’ Dubois is currently riding a three-fight win streak with his last loss having controversially come against the Ukrainian champion.

Ahead of Dubois’ title fight against Joseph Parker on February 22, top-ranked heavyweight contender Martin Bakole has shed some light on a sparring session with Dubois.

Martin Bakole claims he broke Daniel Dubois’ nose in sparring

31-year-ol, Bakole is widely regarded as one of the dark horses of the Heavyweight division, especially after recent wins over Carlos Takam and Jared Anderson.

Bakole is scheduled to fight Efe Ajagba on May 2 in an eliminator for Dubois’ IBF title and ahead of that clash, he has peeled back the curtain on a sparring session between him and Dubois.

“I broke his nose twice and stopped him. That’s not a lie. He will never come say I’m lying,” Bakole told IFTV.

“Joe Joyce the same, you see the video I posted. I feel bad to post some stuff like that because it can happen to me as well in sparring in the camp,” he continued.

Bakole’s claims were backed up by his trainer, Billy Nelson who when speaking to Seconds Out said that his fighter made Dubois quit.

“It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if Daniel vacated rather than fight Martin as well. They’ve been in the ring with each other before. Martin will obliterate Daniel Dubois.

“Martin wasn’t fully fit when he sparred Daniel, about 70% fit, and schooled him. Stopped him, made him quit, and broke his nose. It’s a fact. Martin’s already told people what happened… I’m not telling lies,” he revealed.

Could we see Daniel Dubois vs Martin Bakole next?

Ahead of Dubois’ clash against Parker, he had an impromptu face-off with former foe Usyk following Usyk’s recent win over Tyson Fury, which subsequently led to Fury’s retirement.

If ‘Dynamite’ gets past the stern test of the Australian then he will likely rematch Usyk as their first meeting ended so controversially.

However, it is unclear what the Ukrainian’s plan next is as he has even flirted at a potential clash against Jai Opetaia.
