Huge stadium reserved for Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua as Eddie Hearn provides major update

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has big plans for British boxing in 2025 as he aims to finally bring Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury together.

Both Joshua and Fury have mentioned each other on several occasions over the years. However, a heavyweight clash between the two has never come to fruition.

In 2025, that may change. As both fighters have lost their respective belts in recent years, there might not be an easier time to make the fight than now.

Fury suffered back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, while Joshua’s attempt at taking Daniel Dubois’ title was unsuccessful.

Eddie Hearn aims to have Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury fight in London this summer

Speaking at the Ring Magazine awards, Hearn has revealed that he is taking action regarding making Joshua vs Fury a possibility.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Hearn said that Wembley Stadium is reserved in the summer for a potential boxing match between Fury and Joshua.

Hearn did not provide an exact targeted date but would like the pair to meet in London in May or June, but also wouldn’t be concerned if the bout happened in July.

Described by Hearn as a fight that “must be delivered for the British public,” the boxing promoter did say that Fury was the concerning factor in the bout not being made.

“I think the real key in this is Tyson Fury. He’s just three weeks off a defeat. [Fury is] probably still upset, probably still reflecting on that defeat and we’ll have to see if he wants to fight again. If he does want to fight again, what else can Fury do?”

Talking about Joshua, Hearn has said that everything he is seeing from the former champion is positive in relation to the bout.

“Everything I’ve seen from AJ’s social media, particularly in the last hour or so, is very encouraging…He’s not really one to call anyone out, but clearly, he is calling him out. He’s calling out Tyson Fury.”

Anthony Joshua eager for Tyson Fury matchup

Joshua has not been discrete about his interest in fighting Fury. Even before Fury’s sequel with Usyk, it was a bout Joshua was eyeing up.

As Joshua has teased his retirement, it is a fight that he wants sooner rather than later.

Speaking to Ring Magazine, Joshua reiterated his desire to fight the former heavyweight champion “It’s a fight I want to see, because I’m a fan of boxing, so I want to get that fight underway.”

Acknowledging that there are a limited number of fights left for him in his boxing career, Joshua explained the importance of making the Fury fight.

“I haven’t got many years ahead of me. I’ve had more years behind me… So what I want to do is leave the game with a bang and make an impact. Be outlandish, great character, have fun with it while we’re doing it, and go for the big fights, and Tyson Fury is one of them.”

Joshua would then go on to agree with a statement that it is the biggest fight that can be made in boxing.

The fight has also been publically based and backed by Saudi Arabian advisor Turki Alalshikh. The fight was one of five on Alalshikh’s fight wish list for the future.

Fury has not been as vocal about the fight as his potential opponent, keeping a low profile since the Usyk defeat in December.
