‘He’s not a fighter’… British boxer catches stray from Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. amidst face-to-face with Jake Paul

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. hopes to become the second man to beat Jake Paul as they fight this weekend.

Jake Paul (11-1) will face former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (54-6-1) this weekend on June 8th.

Chavez Jr has been beaten by Daniel Jacobs, Canelo, and MMA fighter Anderson Silva, but holds 54 wins, including a win over Andy Lee, who coaches Joseph Parker.

Paul and Chavez Jr sat face-to-face ahead of their fight, but it was a British boxer who caught a stray from the former champion.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr says Tommy Fury is ‘not a fighter’

In their face off, Chavez Jr explained why he believes he can beat Paul:

“He lost with Tommy Fury. That guy is nothing. […] I’m much better than him.”

He did concede that Paul has improved since then, but fired shots at Tommy Fury in the same breath:

“He’s much better now, but still, this guy, Tommy, is not a fighter, you know.”

Tommy Fury has had just two fights since he beat Paul by split decision in 2023. Later the same year he defeated KSI by unanimous decision, before a long lay-off that ended last month when Fury beat 5-1 Kenan Hanjalic on points in Budapest.

Jake Paul predicts ’embarrassing’ night for Chavez Jr.

In their face-to-face, Paul said he would be the first to beat up Chavez Jr, and maintained that the Mexican champion is in for a long night:

“It’s going to be the toughest fight of his career. The most embarrassing fight of his career. He’s going to be exposed, he’s going to realize he’s easy work.”
