Regis Prograis enters a must-win fight this Saturday when he takes on slick southpaw Jack Catterall in Manchester, England.
The 35-year-old comes off a wide unanimous decision defeat against Devin Haney, who put on a boxing clinic to secure the WBC super lightweight crown last December.
Since then, the former two-time world champion has remained out of the ring, but nonetheless hopes to revitalize his decorated career.
And so, with world champions Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney representing two of the division’s most lucrative options, a win this weekend could catapult Prograis back into the mix.

Timothy Bradley says that Regis Prograis could retire if he loses to Jack Catterall
While the future of Prograis’ career may be determined by the result of his next outing, Catterall’s best years in the sport are seemingly still ahead of him.
The Brit has amassed three wins on the bounce since losing a highly contentious split decision to former undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor back in 2022.
His first notable victory came against legendary boxer Jorge Linares who, while no longer in his prime, offered a stern test for the 31-year-old.
But still, Catterall was able to put on a 12-round masterclass, utilizing his backfoot counterpunching prowess to overcome the seasoned veteran.
And then, in his rematch with Taylor, the former world title challenger put on another convincing display to remain at the top of his division.
So now, ahead of his clash with Prograis, Hall of Famer Timothy Bradley is seemingly making the tricky operator a strong favorite.
“[Prograis’] facing his kryptonite,” Bradley said on ProBox TV. “[In] the Haney fight, [Prograis struggled with] the superior boxer – with great legs – who can move.
“Catterall has great legs, he’s great technically as well. And he’s a southpaw at that. If Prograis doesn’t get past this… I think mentally he may check out of boxing.
“If he doesn’t win this fight, I’m telling you, right now, it’s a possibility that he may hang up the gloves.”
Regis Prograis looks to be in phenomenal shape ahead of his fight with Jack Catterall
While Catterall may have a box full of tools to reach into, Prograis has proven in previous performances to be a formidable puncher, boasting an 82 percent knockout ratio.
More than that, the American looks to be in terrific shape ahead of his make or break dustup, hoping that his strength will translate into pulverizing power.
Regardless of the result, though, it is likely that Prograis and Catterall – when considering their styles – will engage in a compelling spectacle when they collide.
