Canelo is gearing up for his huge fight with Terence Crawford, which will take place this September in Las Vegas.
Terence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez is inching closer and closer as the pair is now just six weeks away from facing off in the ring.
Much has been said of the size difference, with Crawford jumping two divisions to challenge for Canelo’s undisputed super-middleweight titles, but Canelo is also seemingly slowing down after his 20-year-long career.
Canelo, who beat William Scull last time out, has not scored a KO victory since 2021 when he defeated Caleb Plant, and there is one champion who has branded some of his recent performances as ‘lazy’ even.

Bruce Carrington believes Terence Crawford is facing ‘lazy’ Canelo at the right time
In an interview with The Ring, Bruce Carrington spoke on the match-up between Crawford and Canelo and who he thought might win.
Carrington spoke on how Crawford can beat Canelo,
“I feel like [Crawford] has the skillset to make Canelo a bit frustrated with his feet movement. He has the reach, he has the counterpunching ability, the speed, the IQ, to maintain his dominance in the fight, but I also feel like with Canelo Alvarez, his power, his experience, the way he cuts off the ring…”
Carrington then brought up an interesting point regarding Canelo’s recent performances,
“Actually, his foot speed has slowed down in his recent fights. There was a time when he was doing well cutting off the ring, but now he’s been pretty lazy with his feet, I don’t know if it’s age […] I think the foot speed is not there for Canelo right now.”
Carrington won a huge fight of his own last night, as he defeated Mateus Heita via unanimous decision to claim the WBC interim featherweight world title.
Terence Crawford stopped foe 110 seconds before Canelo did
Ahead of their fight, there is just one common opponent with which to gauge how the pair might fare against one another.
That man is Amir Khan, who first fought Canelo in 2016. Jumping up just under 10 pounds from his previous fight, Khan was actually up on one scorecard against the bigger man going into the sixth round, though it was in that round that Canelo folded Khan with a brutal shot that left him out cold on the canvas.
The knockout happened at 2:37 of round six.
Three years later, Khan faced Crawford, and where he picked up rounds against Canelo, Crawford barely gave him an inch, dropping him in the first round and winning on every scorecard going into the sixth.
Six may be an unlucky number for Khan, as he was again stopped in the sixth round.
The time on the clock? 0:47.
