Nigel Benn wants Chris Eubank Jr. rematch for Conor Benn
In the aftermath of the fight, Nigel Benn gave his thoughts on the affair to The Stomping Ground.
Nigel Benn said he was proud of his son, Conor, before adding that he thought it was a very close fight. “I’m not going to go on about the decision. It could have gone either way,” he added.
“Chris did better in the later rounds, which I was very impressed with.”
In terms of what he wants next for his son, Nigel Benn showed little hesitation in expressing interest in a rematch. He said, “Yeah, go for the rematch. There’s no point in going back down to 147 [pounds], stay at 160, get the rematch, win the rematch, then drop back down.”
Nigel Benn would add that he thinks Conor Benn is a better version of himself. However, he feels he was not able to show that against Eubank Jr. However, he feels that the fight will overall be a learning curve for his son: “He’ll come back stronger.”
