Gervonta Davis has received criticism from a legend for his decision to set foot inside the ring with Jake Paul.
Throughout his career, ‘Tank’ has proven his talent beyond doubt. Davis has ruthlessly finished Jose Pedraza, knocked out Leo Santa Cruz and destroyed Liam Walsh.
However, there are still plenty of fighters out there that the combat sports community would love to see him take on.
And for many, ‘The Problem Child’ isn’t one of them.

Paulie Malignaggi slates Gervonta Davis for fighting Jake Paul
Paulie Malignaggi has taken aim at Gervonta Davis ahead of his clash with Jake Paul.
He believes the pound-for-pound superstar has consistently avoided the toughest tests out there.
In an article for Boxing Scene, he said: “[Gervonta Davis] is a very physically gifted fighter but one who, at the highest level, remains unproven mentally.
“He’s regularly been matched with limited or declining opponents capable of showcasing his punching power. His highest-profile fight before 2025 came against Ryan Garcia, who has accomplished very little at the highest level.
“Davis’ career has been guided in such a way that he’s not going to turn down the money involved in fighting Paul; he’s long avoided the best competition, and he’s doing so again.”
Does Jake Paul or Gervonta Davis have more to lose in their controversial fight?
Falling short in this bout would be a disaster for both men.
The YouTuber certainly doesn’t want to lose against a fighter so much smaller than him.
On the other hand, it would be nothing short of mortifying for the world champion boxer if he were to suffer a defeat to a social media star.
Interestingly, Malignaggi revealed whether Paul or Davis is taking more of a risk.
