Gervonta Davis says Ryan Garcia is the toughest opponent he’s ever fought
On April 22, 2023, Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia went head-to-head in a monumental grudge match, inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Showcasing remarkable hand speed, ‘King Ry’ tried to unleash his lightning combinations, with which he had some success.
However, in the end, his opponent’s power was far too much, with Davis landing a crushing body shot in the seventh round, which ultimately resulted in the knockout.
But while he secured the victory, the undefeated fighter still respects what Garcia brought to the table.
In a video uploaded to Instagram by Premier Boxing Champions, he was asked to blind rank his toughest opponents, initially compiling the following list: 5) Rolly Romero, 4) Hector Luis Gacia, 3) Isaac Cruz, 2) Ryan Garcia, 1) Frank Martin.
However, he later changed his mind, claiming: “I should have switched it. I would say Ryan Garcia, one and Frank, three, Cruz, two, if I could re-do it.”
Of course, this caused a huge reaction from the fans, with some disagreeing with the two-weight champion’s opinion.
One person said: “Ryan Garcia was his easiest fight,” while another added: “We all know Cruz is number one.”
However, another individual pointed out: “Watch that fight back, Garcia was throwing some heat and was landing.”
