WBA lightweight titleholder Gervonta Davis doesn’t mind running it back with Ryan Garcia, for the right price.
Gervonta Davis gave Ryan Garcia the first professional boxing loss of his career with a brutal body-shot TKO in 2023. Since then, Davis retained the WBA lightweight championship by knocking out Frank Martin last June and remains one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world.
Garcia bounced back nicely after the loss to Davis, earning back-to-back wins over Oscar Duarte and WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney. But his Haney majority decision win was later ruled a no-contest after he failed a drug test.
Despite recent controversies, and the end of his undefeated run, Garcia remains one of the top names in boxing. But for Garcia to get his targeted Davis rematch, a massive sum will need to be on the line.

Gervonta Davis shares his stance on Ryan Garcia rematch
In a recent Instagram live session, Davis called for an astounding payout for the Garcia rematch.
“Tell them boys to give me $150M, I’m coming! Send that bag and I’m coming,” Davis proclaimed.
As of this writing, Garcia and his representatives haven’t responded to Davis’s comments. Garcia is set to return from suspension later this year, and the Davis rematch could potentially be an option for his next fight.
Davis will face Lamont Roach Jr. on March 1st in Brooklyn, NY in his upcoming WBA lightweight title defense. Roach secured the title shot by knocking out Feargal McCrory in his most recent WBA super-featherweight title defense last June.
Ryan Garcia’s WBC expulsion makes Gervonta Davis rematch a viable option
Garcia wants rematches with Haney and Davis in 2025 as he plots his return to professional boxing. A potential run-back with Haney could face a major hurdle after Garcia was expelled from the WBC after using several racial slurs on social media last July.
Davis, a protégé of Floyd Mayweather Jr., is undefeated through his first 30 professional fights and is closing in on the all-time great lightweight champions. Despite still appearing in his physical prime, Davis has teased retirement after his upcoming battle with Roach.
If Davis vs. Garcia 2 comes to fruition, it appears a major paycheck will need to be on the table. As 2025’s boxing slate kicks off, the Davis vs. Garcia rematch is an intriguing storyline to keep an eye on.
