Shakur Stevenson was able to retain his WBC World Lightweight belt following a win at ‘The Last Crescendo’ on Saturday night.
Stevenson took on part-time electrician Josh Padley, who stepped in to fight for the world title on just four days’ notice following the withdrawal of Floyd Schofield.
Although fans were impressed by the performance of Padley, Stevenson would ultimately finish the bout in the ninth round via TKO.
Following three knockdowns due to body shots, Padley’s corner would throw in the towel as the Englishman tasted defeat for the first time.
However, despite the victory, many were critical of Stevenson’s performance, including one fellow lightweight champion.

Gervonta Davis unimpressed by Shakur Stevenson’s title defence
WBA World Lightweight champion Gervonta Davis indicated he was not impressed by Stevenson’s performance in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Following the bout, Davis took to X to tweet his thoughts, which was “lol.”
Seemingly finding humor in the performance, many fans also felt that Stevenson should have had a better showing against the short-notice opponent.
Stevenson did reply to his lightweight rival’s tweet by saying, “Stay focused… Lamont ready to tap that chin.”
Davis is set to take on Lamont Roach on March 1st, as ‘Tank’ will aim to defend his WBA World Lightweight title.
Roach goes into the bout with a 25-1-1 record, beating undefeated Feargal McCrory in his last outing. Davis will look to extend his unbeaten record to 31-0, as the two meet in New York.
Shakur Stevenson wants Gervonta Davis fight next
Speaking after his TKO win over Padley, Stevenson had one name on his mind in terms of a next opponent.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the American champion said, “Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, let’s do it bro, come on!”
Stevenson also described a potential fight with Davis as “the biggest fight in boxing.”
The now 23-0 fighter added at the end of the interview that he believed he was the greatest fighter in the world.
