Gervonta Davis expected to sail off into the sunset after Jake Paul payday… ‘You’ll never see him again’

Gervonta Davis vs Jake Paul has been announced in an eleventh-hour curveball after fans were left expecting Paul vs Anthony Joshua and Davis vs Lamont Roach 2.

Gervonta Davis will have to climb a 60+ pound weight difference in a matter of months as he will take on Jake Paul in Atlanta, Georgia.

Paul said in his announcement post on X, “Gervonta has been disrespecting my name for too long. His nickname might be Tank, but I’m an FPV drone, and I’m about to disable tiny boy.”

He finished the post cryptically, suggesting he considers this fight a mere stepping stone to something bigger, “First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath.”

Whilst Paul may see a future beyond the Tank fight, there is one man at the top of the game who thinks Davis does not, and may never be seen again after the Netflix mega-fight.

Eddie Hearn thinks Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis is the last we’ll see of Tank

In an interview with The Punch Podcast, Eddie Hearn was asked what he thought of Paul vs Davis, which Carl Froch slammed.

Despite aiming to have his man, Anthony Joshua, face Paul, he criticized the fight heavily, claiming it was not real boxing on account of the weight difference and glove sizes used. Paul vs Davis will be an exhibition bout.

When it came to discussing Tank’s future beyond the fight, Hearn made it clear that he believed there is none,

“I think he’s checked out and he’s just going, ‘Listen, I’m gonna go and have an exhibition with this guy and make 20 or 30 million, and that’s probably me done.’ It’s a bit sad that he doesn’t have the desire to create a legacy in the sport, but each to their own.”

The interviewer then suggested Tank might hope to right the only wrong of his career, which occurred in his last fight as he fought to a controversial draw against Lamont Roach Jr.

Hearn accepted the possibility, but maintained that after earning such a big purse, “Maybe you’ll never see him again.”

Gervonta Davis’ biggest rival thinks he will beat Jake Paul with ease

Davis, who obliterated Francisco Fonseca, has been predicted to win against Paul despite the mountainous weight difference by more than one fighter.

In a simulation, Davis knocks out Paul. Whilst Tank’s biggest rival can’t quite see a KO happening, he does think Davis will outbox the YouTuber-turned-boxer with ease.

Shakur Stevenson sees Tank outboxing Paul, using his IQ and boxing experience to trump Paul’s physical advantages.

Paul is, of course, limited in his boxing ability on account of starting late, but is a far bigger man than Tank, with advantages in both weight and height.
