Former world champion set to live stream spar with internet troll

Boxers are so often criticized by fans who will never know what it’s like to lace up the gloves, but it seems one internet troll is putting his money where his mouth is, against a former world champion.

Ray Jackson has amassed almost 30K followers on his X account, which consistently posts his boxing takes, though many debate whether he shares his genuine opinions or just says whatever is controversial in a bid to get clicks.

However, his trolling came to a head when following a clip of a former world champion touting Shakur Stevenson as a better defensive boxer than Floyd Mayweather, he responded, insinuating the fighter’s opinion was down to them suffering CTE.

This led to some back-and-forth, and ultimately concluded in an agreement to spar.

‘Showtime’ Shawn Porter set to live stream spar with Ray Jackson

Following Jackson’s ‘CTE’ comment, Shawn Porter, who retired in 2021 with a record of 31-4-1, responded:

“I think it’s about time we spar Nephew.”

Despite having no professional experience, Jackson backed himself, stating: “Ight bet come to TX and we can have it at @InTheRingWithC1 gym”

Porter, whose only losses come at the hands of greats like Kell Brook, Errol Spence, Keith Thurman, and Terence Crawford, was more than ready to accept this proposal:

“IM THERE! and we bringing cameras!”

Porter has since asked his fans: “What punch ya want me to drop Ray with?”

The former world champion has not fought in four years, and, like his past foe Keith Thurman, who returns to the ring against Brock Jarvis after having one fight in six years, may not be in prime shape following such inactivity.

Despite this, fighting an internet troll should be no issue for ‘Showtime’, and will prove to be highly entertaining while it lasts, if it ever happens at all.

Porter holds wins over Yordenis Ugas, Danny Garcia, and Adrien Broner and is now a commentator. Shawn recently criticized the system of mandatories in modern boxing.

Shawn Porter sparred earlier this year against Conor Benn

It seems ring rust won’t be a problem for Porter, though, who just a couple months ago sparred Conor Benn ahead of his clash with Chris Eubank Jr.

Speaking on the spar, Porter said: “We did 3 rounds. I’m not coming back especially if I gotta fight that young man. A talent.”

Porter had nothing but praise for the Brit, who seeks to continue the legacy of his father on April 26th.

Eubank Jr.’s father, who recently revealed the insult that cost him a world title, won’t be a part of the promotion, which Billy Joe Saunders claims is due to an altercation between Eubank Jr. and Sr.
