Former Oleksandr Usyk opponent names two aspects that cost Daniel Dubois heavyweight unification bout

Oleksandr Usyk wowed fans on Saturday as he had a stellar performance against Daniel Dubois.

The controversy from the first meeting between Usyk and Dubois was truly put to bed as the Ukrainian scored a fifth-round knockout over the Englishman.

The win improved Usyk’s record to 24-0, as he scored the 15th stoppage of his career.

Although Usyk is being targeted by the likes of Joseph Parker and Jake Paul, the now undisputed champion named some familiar foes as potential options.

One of these options was Usyk’s toughest opponent Derek Chisora, who had an honest analysis of Dubois’ approach.

Derek Chisora feels tactical errors are responsible for Daniel Dubois’ loss to Oleksandr Usyk

In an interview with IFL TV, Chisora gave his thoughts on the performance from Dubois against Usyk.

‘Del Boy’ said he knew Usyk would knock out Dubois. When explaining why, Chisora said, “Two things. The other party [Dubois] was training for the [last fight’s] body shot, which was a low blow. They were not concentrating on the fight. He kept on bringing it up.”

“They lost focus on training Daniel the way he’s supposed to be trained,” the former title challenger added.

For the second error Chisora feels Dubois made, the heavyweight said, “He didn’t use his double-jab.”

Overall, Chisora said that ‘DDD’ ‘didn’t do anything to bother Usyk,’ but feels it was Dubois’ fight to lose.

Chisora also felt that Dubois quit in the bout, while speaking after the fight.

Derek Chisora shares light-hearted moment with Oleksandr Usyk

Posting a video to his X account, @DerekWarChisora, the English heavyweight shared a moment with his old foe Usyk.

After the fight, the video shows Chisora and Usyk together, before ‘Del Boy’ says to the Ukrainian, “Can you please stop beating us up?”

Usyk’s response was a simple, ‘no,’ before beginning to laugh.

Chisora and Usyk fought in October 2020, when the now undisputed champion was making his second outing at heavyweight.
