Former Dillian Whyte rival says ‘The Body Snatcher’ should face one heavyweight in emotional response to KO loss

Dillian Whyte suffered the fourth loss of his professional career as he was unable to overcome the challenge of Moses Itauma in Saudi Arabia.

There were just shy of two minutes on the clock when Itauma knocked out Whyte in what was the 20-year-old’s first headline bout.

The win extended Itauma’s unbeaten streak to 13-0, as Whyte now finds himself with a professional record of 31-4.

Although there was potentially an injury for Whyte going into the bout, Itauma impressively shone on the big stage. However, the agony of Whyte’s defeat was shared by a former rival.

Derek Chisora has emotional response to Dillian Whyte’s knockout loss

Derek Chisora has been on the losing side to Whyte on two occasions, as the heavyweights engaged in one of Britain’s great rivalries.

Despite there being heated moments between the pair in the past, ‘Del Boy’ had an emotional reaction to Whyte’s loss on Saturday night.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Chisora said, “He got caught in the head, in the temple, and after that it was a long night for him.”

Chisora added, “I’m a bit sad,” when speaking on his former rival. “I didn’t want him to go out like that.”

Whyte’s rival said that his emotion did not come from his past experiences with the fighter, but the fact ‘The Body Snatcher’ had not faced a southpaw in recent times.

Derek Chisora says Dillian Whyte should face British heavyweight in rescheduled bout

Although many are calling for 37-year-old Whyte to hang up his gloves, Chisora does not share this opinion. Instead, Chisora has called for Whyte to compete in a ‘farewell bout.’

Following Chisora’s win over Otto Wallin in early 2025, many felt that ‘Del Boy’ and Whyte should have a third meeting. However, Joe Joyce was the name that Chisora mentioned when speaking on Saturday night.

Joyce and Whyte were originally scheduled to fight in April, but the former world title challenger withdrew from the bout.

Should Joyce and Whyte reschedule their bout, the pair would both go into the bout off the back of losses. Joyce was unsuccessful in his last outing, being bested by Filip Hrgovic.
