Floyd Mayweather used ‘devious’ tactics to become a boxing legend, according to Hall of Famer

Floyd Mayweather was both ‘devious’ and ‘brilliant’, according to a popular commentator.

In his incredible career, the American proved himself to be one of the best to have ever graced a ring, making talented fighters miss the target with his excellent defensive work.

However, some give him criticism for the timing of one of his biggest fights. When Manny Pacquiao finished Miguel Cotto, the world wanted him to face Mayweather.

Alas, the grudge match didn’t happen until five years later, with ‘Money’ cruising to victory.

Lampley interjected: “Devious is not illegal in boxing. In any entrepreneurial sport, devious is not illegal; devious can be an asset

“I give Floyd credit for brilliance. He wasn’t just a smart fighter, he was a brilliant fighter, he was on his own level.”

He later added: “Floyd was only about winning the fight, he’ll make fans other ways. I call him the first great social media genius. He realized you could build an audience on negativity.”
