Floyd Mayweather told only one man has better defense by former world champion

Floyd Mayweather had a truly fantastic defense, but according to a fellow combat sports legend, one man is even more elusive than the self-proclaimed ‘TBE’.

In his astonishing career, the American bamboozled his opponents, utilizing his shoulder roll, to make the best in the business miss the target.

Mayweather even says Manny Pacquiao was an easy fight, with the five-weight world champion dancing around the Filipino great.

However, as difficult to tag as the boxer was, a former 2x welterweight champion says one current fighter is harder to hit.

Shawn Porter says Shakur Stevenson has a better defense than Floyd Mayweather

In the current generation, there’s perhaps nobody quite as slick as Shakur Stevenson.

The reigning WBC lightweight King, is a master of his craft, utilizing his sublime boxing IQ to leave his opponents in a state of complete and utter disarray.

His skills are so impressive that Shawn Porter has gone as far as claiming he’s a better defensive operator than the former pound-for-pound number one.

In an episode of The Porter Way Podcast, the 37-year-old, said: “I’ve never seen a fighter with the kind of defense that Shakur Stevenson has — for me, that includes Floyd Mayweather.

“I feel like Floyd, all respect to Floyd, but I felt like he was fighting guys that showed their punches before they came. I felt like he was fighting guys that were a step behind where they used to be. I think that there’s no secret of that.

“That’s also coming from somebody that really, honestly, didn’t start paying attention to boxing until 2016, 2017. I did it, but I didn’t want to watch it.

“I’m just letting you guys know, when I’m talking about Floyd, I didn’t see ‘Pretty Boy’, I saw highlights, but I didn’t sit down and analyze him, like ‘Tank’ (Gervonta Davis).

“When I watch Shakur fight, he’s making defensive moves, and then fighters are throwing the punch.”
