Floyd Mayweather explains why he likes Eddie Hearn in hilarious conversation with boxing promoter

It’s safe to say Floyd Mayweather finds boxing promoter Eddie Hearn absolutely hilarious.

The 50-0 retired five-weight world champion recently bumped into Eddie Hearn at a gym day ahead of the stacked February 22 card in Saudi Arabia, which will be headlined by Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol II.

Daniel Dubois will defend his IBF heavyweight title against Joseph Parker on the undercard, and Matchroom boxing’s latest big-name signing, Shakur Stevenson, will put his undefeated record on the line against the 18-0 Floyd Schofield.

But all of those fights were forgotten when Floyd Mayweather bumped into Anthony Joshua’s promoter.

Floyd Mayweather and Eddie Hearn share hilarious moment

On Thursday, the two popular boxing stars came together to create a very funny viral clip.

It all started with Mayweather bringing up something Hearn had said about him in the past.

“I’m going to tell you why I like Eddie,” the boxing legend said in the video of him and the Matchroom Boxing boss standing in a gym.

“So, one day somebody said, because you know I don’t have social media on my phone, so they showed me Eddie. Eddie was like, ‘Floyd Mayweather ain’t got no money. That’s why he doing exhibitions’. And he don’t believe that now. He will say some s***.  One thing about that, me and Eddie got it clear.”

Hearn cracked ‘Money’ up by jokingly doubling down on his previous claims about him struggling for cash.

He said: “We said as long as it’s 10 or 20 [million], no problem. Can’t be less than 10, because then we’re struggling for money.

“Imagine how much money Floyd Mayweather would’ve made if I was his promoter back in the day. Two hungry f***ers for money.”

What did Eddie Hearn say about Floyd Mayweather’s net worth?

In August 2024, Hearn publicly questioned Mayweather’s financial position due to his continued involvement in the sport.

‘Money’ is believed to have made $650 million for his fights with Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor.

Still, he’s returned to the ring eight times for exhibition bouts since calling it a career after beating the UFC star in 2017.

As far as Hearn is concerned, that must mean that Mayweather is struggling for money to some degree.

“I don’t think he’s got the money he says, that’s what I think,” he said last year.

“I don’t think he needs the money but you know when you’ve got that lifestyle, when he’s spending what he’s spending.”
