Boxing fans have shared their thoughts on Ryan Garcia‘s win over Devin Haney being ruled a no-contest after the American failed a drug test.
Ryan Garcia shocked the world in April when he dropped Devin Haney three times on his way to handing the American a first career defeat.
There were question marks over Garcia’s mental state before the contest after his behaviour on social media led to many demanding he was pulled out of the fight.
The American then shocked the world further after he tested positive on two of his drug tests for PEDs before he clashed with Haney.
The boxing star has now been handed a one-year ban from competing and a $1.1million fine, while his victory has been declared a no-contest.
Fans had a mixed response to the news.

Boxing fans give mixed reaction to Ryan Garcia’s win being taken away
The decision to take the win off Garcia and declare the fight a no-contest means that Haney is now an undefeated fighter again.
Some fans were outraged with the decision and took to X to express their feelings.
One fan wrote: “He will always be a loser we will never forget or let him forget.”
Another posted: “Undefeated to Haney, his Dad and his fans, that’s it.”
Many were quick to point out that the American didn’t deserve to have a loss on his record to someone who failed a drug test.
One fan took to X to say: “Thank goodness. Can’t stand a damn cheater! Ryan knew what he was doing!”
There was yet more praise for the decision with one fan writing: “Don’t understand how anyone can argue this. Ryan tested Positive.
“Whether or not he was doing it intentionally, it’s unfair to keep the L on Haney’s record nor the W on Ryan’s.”
Is a one-year ban enough for Ryan Garcia?
Garcia’s ban has been backdated to when he last fought in April, meaning he can box again in just over 10 months.
PPV fighters like the American rarely fight over twice a year, so a 10-month ban doesn’t really affect him or his career ambitions.
Fighters in the past have seen bans for testing positive for similar banned substances range from two years up to around four.
So why is Garcia’s ban so small?
The American should have been banned for a substantial amount of time to set a precedent for others who choose to cheat in boxing.
