Eddie Hearn teases blockbuster card featuring Ryan Garcia and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis

Eddie Hearn has entertained a potential five vs. five showdown with rival promoter Oscar De La Hoya in a bid to settle their intense feud.

The two promoters have rarely gone a week without poking fun at one another, with De La Hoya often claiming that the Matchroom Boxing boss is a poor matchmaker.

Eddie Hearn, too, has responded with several jibes of his own, but now looks to work alongside the two-time Hall of Fame inductee.

And so, with the Brit expressing an interest in delivering another five vs. five event, boxing fans would certainly look forward to seeing a clash between the Matchroom and Golden Boy stables.

Eddie Hearn and Oscar De La Hoya are keen to work together

Following the success of Hearn’s cross-promotional battle with Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren in June, the pair have hinted at possibly staging a similar event next year.

But now, it seems as though Oscar De La Hoya has shoehorned his name into the mix, claiming that he would love to work with Hearn on a five vs. five show.

In response, the Matchroom promoter has suggested five potential contests that could take place, sharing his thoughts on X.

Topping his list is a left field matchup between IBF world welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Ryan Garcia which, one assumes, would mean Garcia stepping up to 147 lbs.

Next up is a more realistic fight between Shakur Stevenson and Willam Zepeda, who is the mandatory challenger for the American’s WBC lightweight strap.

Another compelling matchup that is not beyond the realms of possibility is Vergil Ortiz Jr against Israil Madrimov who, of course, will be facing Serhii Bohachuk on December 21.

Elsewhere on Hearn’s list is a potential cruiserweight unification between Gilberto Ramirez and Jai Opetaia, which can only happen if Ramirez beats Chris Billam-Smith on November 16.

And finally, an intriguing super lightweight collision between Jack Catterall and Jose Ramirez was also included in the tweet.

Fans react to potential Matchroom vs. Golden Boy card

After suffering a devastating 10-0 loss to Warren earlier this year, Hearn will no doubt be looking to prove that his stable is, in fact, the best in boxing.

But still, fans have largely backed team Matchroom to win a fantasy show against team Golden Boy.

One fan said: “Easy win for team Matchroom.”

Another fan added: “Boots and Ryan would be slaughter bro… easy dub for Eddie.”

Someone else said: “Boots beats Ryan after the layoff, Shakur smokes Zepeda, Madrimov boxes circles around Ortiz, Opetaia stops Zurdo, and Catterall cruises against Ramirez.”
