Devin Haney was in attendance along with several stars from the worlds of sport and entertainment at the Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois clash on Saturday night.
The 25-year-old appeared ringside chatting to Terence Crawford, as the pair watched Daniel Dubois secure a viral knockout over Anthony Joshua in front of a reported 98,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.
However, prior to the enthralling main event, Devin Haney took to social media, claiming that he had been denied tickets to the fight by Eddie Hearn.
The Matchroom Boxing promoter then responded to his former fighter’s post on X, encouraging him to “drop the arrogance” and ask someone else for tickets.
Eddie Hearn responds to Devin Haney
The now somewhat fractured relationship between Haney and Hearn goes back to 2019, when the young prospect signed a multi-fight deal with Matchroom.
But then, the American became the undisputed lightweight champion by defeating George Kambosos Jr on a show put together by rival promoters Top Rank.
Soon enough, Hearn rekindled his relationship with the talented slickster – promoting his last two fights – and yet, this new development has seemingly put the cat back among the pigeons.
“Bearing in mind the relationship I’ve got with Devin, bearing in mind everything we’ve been through, I could not believe he would put that out on social media,” Hearn told Boxing News.
“I received a message from him at 6am on the day of the fight saying, ‘I need tickets for Joshua.’
“We had months’ notice from our fighters who had put in requests [for tickets]. At that point, we just don’t have the tickets.
“I pulled him at the show and said, ‘what do you think you’re doing?’ I said, ‘one, you couldn’t be more arrogant, and two, why aren’t you messaging me after I messaged you? You put a Tweet out? You’re like a little kid.”
Conor Benn records ringside confrontation between Eddie Hearn and Devin Haney
During this heated exchange, welterweight contender Conor Benn recorded his promoter and rival before posting the video on his Instagram.
Before the pair verbally locked horns, though, Hearn had discussed the possibility of ‘The Dream’ facing newly-crowned super lightweight world champion Liam Paro.
With that being said, Haney has also expressed an interest in taking some time away from boxing following his controversial clash with Ryan Garcia earlier this year.
But, regardless of whether the Paro fight is likely to get made, one would have to question if, given this recent incident, Hearn would be keen to give his former charge another opportunity.
