Eddie Hearn reveals what Dmitry Bivol told him after win over Artur Beterbiev hands him long sought-after record

This past Saturday, Dmitry Bivol avenged his 2024 loss against Artur Beterbiev after an incredible 12-round back-and-forth war.

Last October, Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev met for the first time when they clashed in Saudi Arabia for the undisputed Light Heavyweight title.

After such a close and controversial first meeting, fans knew the rematch this past Saturday would once again live up to expectations and it did exactly that.

The rematch played out extremely similarly and Bivol was awarded the decision win, avenging his loss and opening up the door to a classic trilogy.

Dmitry Bivol hands Eddie Hearn long sought after record

Immediately after the fight, Bivol went over to talk to Beterbiev and showed his respect to the incredible Russian champion, with the two likely to meet inside the ring again.

One man who was just as excited as Bivol after winning the undisputed Light Heavyweight title was his promoter, Eddie Hearn.

“I’m so happy, so happy,” Hearn immediately reacted in an interview with iFL TV.

“I’m just so pleased for Dmitry Bivol, he came over to me and he was like, ‘I did it, I’m your first undisputed champion’, I was like, ‘Oh my god, you are’,” Hearn continued.

Throughout his career as Matchroom Boxing promoter, Hearn has never had an undisputed male champion with Bivol being his first. Katie Taylor became Hearn’s first-ever fighter to win undisputed status but he has been waiting for one of his male fighters to also complete the feat.

“It was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen… I don’t know how (Bivol) turned it around but it was just phenomenal boxing… It goes down as one of my proudest moments,” Hearn continued.

Dmitry Bivol is interested in a rematch against Canelo Alvarez

Back in 2022, Bivol welcomed Canelo Alvarez up to 175lbs when they fought for the WBA Light Heavyweight strap. Bivol recorded the unanimous decision win, handing Canelo his second pro loss.

Following his win this past Saturday, Bivol didn’t rule out a potential move down to Super Middleweight to rematch the Mexican champion.

“All belts are with Canelo (at Super Middleweight) and this is an option also but I don’t know which, I want to fight for the belts, you know, this is first of all what I want and I want to fight for my legacy.

“I want to get some benefits from the fight, not about money,” Bivol continued.

Canelo is set to defend his undisputed Super Middleweight title against William Scull on May 3 and after that, there are talks that he will fight Terence Crawford, however, Bivol may have now just inserted his name in the conversation.
