With rumors circulating regarding a potential fight between Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul, Eddie Hearn has revealed what the Mexican thinks of the fight.
Alvarez is set to take on Terence Crawford as an agreement has supposedly been made for the super fight. The bout is set to take place in Las Vegas in September, however, the Mexican is rumored to also be fighting in May.
Although nothing is confirmed, rumors have begun circulating online that the influencer-boxer Paul may face Alvarez in the summer.
Paul’s last boxing outing came in November 2024, when he defeated 58-year-old Mike Tyson via unanimous decision. However, he may be preparing to make a huge step up in competition for his next fight.
Boxing promoter Hearn has shared both what he and Alvarez think about the potential fight, which may come to fruition this year.

Eddie Hearn has spoken to Canelo Alvarez about Jake Paul
In footage captured by Matchroom Boxing, Hearn was asked about his thoughts on a potential fight between Alvarez and Paul. In response, the promoter has said that Alvarez has shown interest in the fight previously.
“Whenever I’ve talked to Saul [Alvarez] about Jake Paul, he’s always gone, ‘Pay me the money, I’ll fight him.'”
“He looks at Jake Paul and goes, ‘You want to pay me the money? Yeah, I’ll fight him.'”
Hearn would go on to say that although he is not the biggest fan of Paul, he would understand if the Mexican accepted the fight with the internet star and would tune into the bout.
“I don’t like a lot of things that Jake Paul has done. If he fights Canelo Alvarez, and obviously the only reason he’s doing that is for an incredible amount of money, I’ll watch it.”
Despite his disliking towards Paul, Hearn said that the 11-1 boxer would have his respect for fighting Alvarez. “By the way, respect. If you go in there, you are fighting a pound-for-pound great.”
Eddie Hearn on Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol 2
Speaking on the future of Alvarez to Matchroom Boxing, Hearn discussed the potential for a rematch between the Mexican and Dmitry Bivol.
The Russian bested Alvarez in 2022 as he won via unanimous decision to give the current super middleweight champion just his second career loss.
Hearn did say that a rematch between the pair could be on the cards if Bivol defeats Artur Beterbiev in their highly anticipated sequel. However, he feels Alvarez has nothing left to prove and could consider taking fights with bigger paydays. “Why would you do that [fight Bivol] when you can fight Jake Paul and get double the money?”
Bivol named three potential fight options should he be victorious against Beterbiev, however, an Alvarez rematch was not mentioned.
