Eddie Hearn issues emphatic verdict amid Richardson Hitchins’ social media dispute with former unified champion

Richardson Hitchins has put himself in the shop window for a potential mega fight after claiming the IBF world super lightweight title.

The 27-year-old dethroned Liam Paro on Saturday, utilizing his sharp jab and elite footwork to control the distance enroute to a split decision victory in Puerto Rico.

And while one judge arrived at a bizarre scorecard of 117-111 in favor of Paro, Hitchins’ comprehensive performance nonetheless earned him his first meaningful belt.

But now, the American is seemingly already lining up his next assignment, targeting George Kambosos Jr on social media after calling out former undisputed king Teofimo Lopez.

Richardson Hitchins trades barbs with George Kambosos Jr after calling out Teofimo Lopez

Immediately after his career-best win, Hitchins expressed his desire to take on WBO titlist Lopez in a mouthwatering unification.

Since toppling Vasyl Lomachenko for the undisputed lightweight crown back in 2020, ‘The Takeover’ has suffered just one professional defeat against Kambosos.

But still, after moving up to 140 lbs, the 27-year-old secured a scintillating victory over Josh Taylor before producing two underwhelming performances to outpoint Jamaine Ortiz and Steve Claggett.

And despite calling out the likes of Gervonta Davis, Terence Crawford and Jaron Ennis, Lopez has equally welcomed a potential showdown with Hitchins.

Instead of lambasting his rival on social media, though, Hitchins has reignited his feud with Kambosos.

On X, he wrote: “I’m waiting for you in NYC, you bum.”

Naturally, the Australian did not take kindly to the newly-crowned champion’s comments, calling him a “peanut brain” and “c***” among other insults.

This, of course, sparked a lengthy dispute between the pair, with Kambosos claiming that he is now in Hitchins’ head rent free.

Eddie Hearn teases potential clash between Richardson Hitchins and George Kambosos Jr

As the two combatants continue to go back and forth, Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has attempted to draw a line in the sand.

Tagging Hitchins on X, he wrote: “potential homecoming.”

Soon after, the New Yorker responded to his promoter with a handshake emoji, while Kambosos – another Matchroom fighter – has also expressed an interest in returning to New York.

Yet still, since beating Lopez at Madison Square Garden, the 31-year-old has suffered three defeats in his last four outings.
