Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn scoffed at Chris Eubank Jr.’s £1 million bet ahead of his fight with Conor Benn.
The stakes couldn’t be higher for Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn ahead of their grudge match next month at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Eubank and Benn will finally settle their years-long beef decades after their fathers clashed in one of the UK’s biggest boxing rivalries. The two sides sparred in recent media appearances, including at a recent press conference capped off by Eubank slapping Benn with an egg.
Ahead of the April 26th event, Eubank called Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn a ‘weasel’ as he proposed a £1 million bet on the fight. It didn’t take long for Hearn to counter Eubank’s offer.

Eddie Hearn replies to ‘very clever’ Chris Eubank Jr.
During a recent interview with Ring Magazine, Hearn responded to Eubank’s proposal.
“Very clever,” Hearn said of Eubank’s bet. “Promoters can’t bet, so much so that the British Board of Control recently sent an email [to me]…he’s one of the views…because he knows I can’t bet on the fight, and he knows that if I did, I would receive a fine like him of 100,000. So maybe we could settle it for charity? He did what he’s all about, views, clout, he’s clout-chasing.
“I’d love to have the bet with him but I’d also get better odds…but there’s another reason I won’t take a bet with Chris Eubank Jr., but I won’t get into it right now…he’s brilliant, he’s hilarious…that’s what it’s all about. We’ll win the fight, Conor’s training like an animal, and he’ll knock Eubank out at Tottenham.”
Hearn and Eubank could potentially wage a bet for charity, but it’s uncertain if the British Board of Control will allow it. The two sides got into a heated back-and-forth during a recent press conference in London.

Chris Eubank Jr. fined £100,000 for egg-slapping Conor Benn at a press conference
After Eubank slapped Benn with an egg at their London press conference, he was fined £100,000 for the assault. Eubank and Benn nearly came to blows during a joint interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored afterward.
Eubank and Benn were supposed to clash in 2022 before Benn was forced out of the fight due to a failed drug test. Since then, Eubank earned the then-vacant IBO middleweight championship, while Benn defeated Peter Dobson in his most recent outing.
Tensions are ramping up between Eubank, Benn, and their promoters ahead of the April 26th fight. For now, it appears Eubank’s massive gamble remains on the shelf.
