Dmitry Bivol ordered to face boxer who beat a legend, leaving Artur Beterbiev trilogy in doubt

Dmitry Bivol could have a new challenge on his hands, with his trilogy with Artur Beterbiev now in doubt.

The pair of formidable operators have proven themselves as genuine greats of the sport, producing two exceptional contests.

While Bivol brutally knocked out Trent Broadhurst in his first-ever world title defense, he’s developed a reputation as a pure boxer, while Beterbiev is the thunderous puncher, with the icons fusing together to create fascinating battles.

However, with a new mandatory challenger emerging, a deciding bout between the icons could be in jeopardy.

Dmitry Bivol ordered to face Michael Eifert, who beat Jean Pascal

Boxing Scene has confirmed that the IBF has ordered Dmitry Bivol to face Michael Eifert.

The 13-1 fighter notably defeated former world champion, Jean Pascal, on March 16, 2023, at the Place Bell in Laval, Canada.

The German has been awaiting his shot for a very long time, having previously been ordered to face Artur Beterbiev, before an agreement was eventually reached for the heavy-handed boxer to face his nemesis in a rematch.

Following the fight, the WBC mandated a bout between Bivol and David Benavidez, prompting the pound-for-pound star to vacate that title.

Now, if he wants the decider with Beterbiev, the slick operator may also have to give up his IBF strap, too.

‘I dropped him’… Ovill McKenzie reveals crazy memories of sparring Artur Beterbiev

In their two fights, Bivol has failed to come close to putting Beterbiev on the canvas.

However, it’s not impossible, with Callum Johnson having previously achieved that feat inside the professional ring.

In addition, another former world title challenger said he’s managed to hurt the terrifying competitor.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Knockout, Ovill McKenzie claimed he dropped Beterbiev in sparring.
