‘Disheartening’… Floyd Mayweather’s California gym under intense scrutiny over alleged unpaid wages

Protests erupted outside of Mayweather Boxing and Fitness in Hollywood over the gym’s alleged failure to adequately pay its employees.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is thriving in his post-professional boxing ventures since retiring in 2017. He still remains active as a boxer in exhibitions and is reportedly in talks with Conor McGregor‘s team for a potential rematch.

In the meantime, Mayweather and his camp are under a negative spotlight after several employees at one of his gyms accused them of misleading business practices. Several Hollywood Mayweather Boxing and Fitness employees, and even the gym’s general manager, are accusing Mayweather and his team of unpaid wages.

This is a developing conflict and protests persist over alleged mistreatment for Mayweather Boxing and Fitness workers.

Mayweather Boxing and Fitness employees protest over alleged unpaid wages

In recent interviews with Key News Network, a number of Mayweather Boxing and Fitness gym employees made some startling accusations.

“Honestly, it’s been disheartening,” one employee alleged. “We haven’t been getting paid fairly; it messes with your mental health…my wife had to go to the hospital from stress and anxiety from this job. It’s just a lot of different things that hurts your heart and it sucks that you got to go through it working for such a big name company…the reality of it is we’re not even getting paid.” (h/t Bad Left Hook)

One of the gym’s boxing coaches accused Mayweather and his team of stiffing him financially for months at a time.

“I was a member of Mayweather Boxing and Fitness since late 2018, always loved the gym, always loved the studio, a big fan of Floyd. They offered me an opportunity to coach because I had boxing experience,” the coach shared. “I was like ‘man, this is going to be amazing’ and since I’ve been here it’s just been a lot of false promises…I got promised a head position, I used to work a corporate job, quit my job to come here for a better opportunity for myself and then I have to deal with unpaid wages on a consistent basis. There’s been times when I’ve went over a month without getting paid.”

As of this writing, Mayweather and his inner circle haven’t responded to the protests publically.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. allegedly stiffed Logan Paul after 2021 boxing match

Mayweather most recently competed in the boxing ring against John Gotti III in an August exhibition. The non-scored bout went the full, eight-round distance, and included Mayweather firing the presiding referee mid-fight.

The Mayweather Boxing and Fitness protests aren’t the first time the Boxing Hall of Famer has been accused of failing to pay agreed-upon wages. Four years after their mega fight, Logan Paul says Mayweather and his team have failed to pay him his fair share of the pot.

This is a developing story and updates are expected to surface in the coming weeks. For full comment from the protesters, check out Key News Network‘s interviews in the video below.
