Devin Haney has announced he will be taking a break from the sport but is eyeing a return against one fighter in particular.
Devin Haney suffered one of the year’s biggest upsets when he was dropped three times and outpointed by Ryan Garcia in April.
Haney kept his WBC belt after Garcia forfeited the title by weighing in three pounds over the agreed 140-pound limit.
The WBC champion was set to fight mandatory challenger Sandor Martin but instead announced he will be taking a break from boxing.

Devin Haney to return against fierce rival
Now Haney has revealed while he will be taking a break from boxing, he is already eyeing a return in a rematch against his long-time rival Garcia.
The pair have been rivals since their amateur days having boxed six times in the unpaid ranks, winning three times each.
Garcia too is set for a spell on the sidelines after he tested positive for a banned substance on two of his drug tests before his victory over Haney.
The WBC Champion is now eyeing a return after his rivals’ drug ban is completed to gain revenge for his sole defeat.
Haney wrote on X: “Ima take some time.. spend some of my money.. travel the world & I’ll be back in two years after Ryan suspension & we can fight again.”
Devin Haney’s break could be down to Eddie Hearn
Haney looked set to make a return to the ring when purse bids were called for his mandatory title defense against Martin.
The champion was left disappointed by the amount of money on the table and former promoter Eddie Hearn’s decision not to make an offer.
The American took to X to complain about his former promoter’s decision not to bid for his fight and later posted that he would be having a break from the sport.
