Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez trade insults on social media after comeback fight revelation

Both Haney and Lopez did not hold back as the two engaged with one another on X.

Devin Haney will return to the boxing ring on March 25th, 2025, as makes his comeback to the sport.

The champion’s last outing would end in defeat as Haney lost to rival Ryan Garcia. However, the bout has since been overturned to a no-contest, allowing ‘The Dream’ to keep his perfect 31-0 record.

It is unclear as to who Haney will face on March 25th, however, super lightweight contender Teofimo Lopez has made his thoughts clear to the champion.

Devin Haney goes back-and-forth with Teofimo Lopez on X

Buzz began to generate online as Devin Haney tweeted that he would make his anticipated return in March of 2025.

However, 21-0 Teofimo Lopez fired back to the tweet saying “You punk b****.”

Among two tweets fired back by Haney included “Teo got the nerve to try and offer somebody something but he out here begging…I’m making real MONEY.”

Seemingly not preparing to fight Lopez, Haney’s next fight is currently unconfirmed, with no clear opponent set for March 25th.

Lopez last competed in June of 2024, when he defeated Steve Claggett via unanimous decision to defend his WBO super lightweight title.

Meanwhile, Haney was previously the holder of the WBC super lightweight title. However, Haney vacated the belt but is considered to be a ‘champion in recess’.

Ryan Garcia rematch will not be next for Devin Haney

Although it is not yet confirmed who Devin Haney will face in his 2025 comeback, Ryan Garcia will not be the opponent.

Despite many fans wanting the rivals to meet in the ring once again, Garcia will be ineligible to box until late April 2025.

Following his win over Haney, Ryan Garcia tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in the aftermath of the bout. This then resulted in Ryan Garcia receiving a 12-month ban from professional boxing.

The March 25th return date for Haney means that Garcia will still be serving his suspension when the champion steps in the ring, meaning an alternative opponent will compete.

Garcia was scheduled to face Japanese kickboxer Rukiya Anpo on December 30th in an exhibition boxing match, however, was forced to withdraw due to a wrist injury.
