Devin Haney a second option to KO artist world champion who eyes winner of Manny Pacquiao vs Mario Barrios

Devin Haney is currently not scheduled to fight as he looks to improve on his unbeaten 32-0 record.

Coming off the back of a lackluster event at Times Square, New York, Haney may be aiming to impress fans in his next outing.

A bout has collapsed between Haney and Teofimo Lopez, as the super lightweight rivals must wait to settle their feud.

It is also unclear whether or not a rematch with Ryan Garcia will be next for Haney, as ‘King Ryan’ fell short in his last bout against Rolando Romero.

One fighter that has been rumored to face Haney is also seemingly uninterested in the bout before another challenge.

Brian Norman Jr. wants Manny Pacquiao vs Mario Barrios winner next

WBO World Welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. is a name that has been mentioned alongside Haney’s in terms of a blockbuster fight. The 28-0 fighter with 22 stoppages recently scored a knockout of the year contender when he defeated Jin Sasaki.

However, Norman Jr. wants a different fight next.

Speaking on Ariel X Ade: The Boxing Show, Norman Jr. was speaking about Haney and his father, Bill Haney.

The champion was asked to react to a tweet from Bill Haney that said, “I’m on my job looking for this tough guy named Brian Norman Jr.? If you see him or his dad, tell them Devin Haney is looking for him.”

After describing Bill Haney as a ‘Twitter freak’, Norman Jr. added, “Hey, if you’re trying to get down with it… I’m right here for it.”

Norman Jr. was then asked by Ariel Helwani what his next fight would be if he could choose.

“Preferably the winner of the WBC fight that’s coming up with Mario Barrios and Manny Pacquiao,” Norman Jr. said. “That’s a way bigger fight [than Haney].”

The WBO champion did go on to add that he would want to fight Haney after facing the winner of the Mario Barrios vs Manny Pacquiao fight on July 12th in a welterweight unification bout.

Brian Norman Jr. open to fighting Conor Benn

Following his comments about Pacquiao, Barrios, and Haney, Norman Jr. was asked his thoughts on fighting UK star Conor Benn by Ade Oladipo.

Norman Jr.’s response was, “I am definitely thinking about Conor Benn as well.”

The champion then gave praise to Benn’s performance against Chris Eubank Jr., but said the fight would need to be at 147 lbs.

The welterweight champion is also seemingly open for a fight in enemy territory as he said, “I would love to go to the UK.”
