Derek Chisora reveals hefty fine he received for throwing table at heavyweight rival

Derek ‘Del Boy’ Chisora recently won his penultimate fight against Otto Wallin in Manchester.

Derek Chisora has had a career full of ups and downs, lasting almost twenty years. The Brit made his debut in 2007, and since then has faced elite opposition such as Tyson Fury, Joseph Parker, and Oleksandr Usyk.

Despite his record sitting at 36-13 ahead of his 50th and final fight, Chisora has had some bad luck in fights where the decision was particularly close, such as the first Parker and Dillian Whyte fights, and was, in the eyes of fans, robbed entirely when he lost to Robert Helenius.

Chisora has lost to nine men, avenging one, against Kubrat Pulev. All but three of his losses have come at the hands of fighters who would go on to be world champions or had been world champions earlier in their careers.

One of those three is Agit Kabayel, who faces Zhilei Zhang on February 22nd in a title eliminator.

Chisora has become a British icon due to both his willingness to fight the best of the best, as well as his wild antics outside of the ring.

Derek Chisora was fined £80,000 for throwing table at Dillian Whyte

Ahead of his first clash with Dillian Whyte for the British title, Chisora went viral for a heated moment at the pre-fight press conference.

At the conference, words were exchanged before Chisora said: “If you think I’m a b—-, I’m a punk, you tell me right now, because listen, I am the baddest man you’ll ever f——- meet.”

As he finished speaking, Del Boy picked up the table he was sat at and launched it at Whyte, who remained in his seat.

In 2012, Chisora was also fined for slapping Vitali Klitschko, and for punching David Haye.

Speaking to Talksport, Chisora revealed he was fined £150,000 for the incident with Klitschko, and that promoter Eddie Hearn was forced to pay £80,000 for the table moment against Whyte.

Chisora insists he has “no regrets, none. […] I don’t regret anything I do in life.”

Derek Chisora reveals location of his final fight

Though his last fight was billed as ‘The Last Dance’ as a result of Chisora suggesting it would be his last showing in the United Kingdom, it has since been revealed this may not be the case.

Chisora had spoken of fighting in Africa for his final fight, but after defeating Otto Wallin, took to X to suggest he will in fact finish his career in London.

Chisora’s opponent has not yet been confirmed, but a few big names are floating around.

As his win over Wallin put him in the number two spot for the IBF title, behind Bakole and Ajagba who face off in May, the winner of that fight could be next for ‘WAR’ Chisora.

Alternatively, a comeback to boxing for Francis Ngannou could be possible for the Brit, who is undoubtedly seeking big money for his farewell showdown.

In the ring, Chisora enlisted the help of Skepta to decide who his next opponent could be, giving the options of Uysk, Daniel Dubois, and Anthony Joshua.

The loudest cheer came for Usyk, who has admitted he has only two fights left in the sport, the next likely against Parker vs Dubois, but the final slot is still open for a potential clash.

The most likely, however, may well be a trilogy with Whyte. With the first fight ending on a split decision, and the second by stoppage towards the end of the fight when Chisora was ahead on two scorecards, there may be some unfinished business between the pair.

Whyte must first defeat Joe Joyce, whose downfall against Zhang had been predicted by Whyte, who he will face on the 5th of April.
