DAZN cameraman gets dropped during ‘worst fight’ of the year contender

Claressa Shields became the unified women’s heavyweight champion as she defeated Danielle Perkins via unanimous decision.

The fight card took place in Flint, Michigan on Sunday night and the card was filled with bizarre moments and incidents.

In the main event, Shields’ had an incredible performance as she dominated her opponent. However, a crazy incident would see a referee seemingly push a heavyweight to the ground as Perkins hit the canvas.

Not only did the main event have an unusual moment, but the co-main event had its own bizarre talking points too.

DAZN Cameraman knocked down in co-main event

The co-main event would see Skylar Lacy (8-0-2) and Brandon Moore (17-1) compete for the IBF USBA Heavyweight title.

However, in round three, one of the main talking points of the fight would happen.

Although neither fighter was knocked down in the title bout, one of the cameramen was.

As Moore and Lacy engaged in a clinch, they headed to the ropes in unison. As they got to the corner of the ring, they seemingly struck the cameraman.

Footage captured by DAZN shows the cameraman’s point of view, as the footage goes black following a tumble from the official. The bout was temporarily stopped as the referee intervened.

The referee separated the fighters before checking on the cameraman, “You alright?”.

The cameraman quickly returned to his feet and got back in position to perform his duties. Reassuring the fans he was okay, he gave the crowd a smile and a wave.

Co-main event of Shields vs Perkins ended in a disqualification

If the cameraman getting knocked down in the co-main event was not bizarre enough, the fight overall ended in a disqualification.

In round nine, Lacy and Moore engaged in a clinch. However, Lacy began to drive low and push Moore through the ropes of the ring.

The two barrelled out of the ring, the boxers smashed into the table below them. As the two lay there for a considerable amount of time, the referee began counting over the two fallen fighters.

Eventually, the referee waved the bout off and disqualified Lacy for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The fan was not well perceived by fans, who labeled it “the worst in boxing history” on X.
