Unbeaten light heavyweight contenders David Benavidez and David Morrell will lock horns on February 1, headlining a mouthwatering card at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
The eagerly awaited event kicks off Premier Boxing Champions’ 2025 schedule, with the promotional outfit delivering their first Amazon Prime pay-per-view show in nearly a year.
And so, after weeks of anticipation, Benavidez and Morrell finally came face-to-face for the first time at yesterday’s press conference, igniting what promises to be a spicy build-up.
Sure enough, there was not a shred of respect between the two elite level operators, with both fighters ultimately looking to make their mark at 175 lbs.

David Benavidez promises to break David Morrell’s mouth
For the best part of a year, Benavidez found himself clamoring for an all-Mexican showdown with super middleweight king Canelo Alvarez.
However, after discovering that the pound-for-pound star had no interest in facing him, ‘The Monster Bandera Roja’ was forced to consider alternative options.
Instead, the two-time super middleweight champion moved up to light heavyweight for his last outing against Oleksandr Gvozdyk, securing a wide unanimous decision victory over the Ukrainian.
So now, it would appear that the 27-year-old hopes to become a two-division champion, targeting a potential clash with Artur Beterbiev for the undisputed crown.
Likewise, Morrell has been banging the drum for a shot at the top dog of his division, but remains a slight underdog ahead of his upcoming dustup.
Even so, Benavidez has vowed to put on a punishing display against the skilful Cuban, who has seemingly already gotten under his skin.
“Here we are again,” Benavidez said at yesterday’s press conference. “I told you guys I was gonna give you the best fights that you guys wanted to see, and we’re here again.
“We got this guy – he’s been talking about me for a while, for about two or three years. Disrespecting me, disrespecting my dad, disrespecting my brother.
“So now, he wanted to take it personal with me. So, I’m personally gonna break his f***ing mouth, so he has something to remember me by.”
Floyd Mayweather hails David Benavidez vs David Morrell card
While the two hard-hitting Davids will top the bill in a fight that should deliver fireworks from start to finish, their stacked undercard offers several more intriguing matchups that fans can look forward to as well.
Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has, in fact, already predicted that the pair are set to headline the best card of 2025.
But, hoping to steal the show are Brandon Figueroa and Stephen Fulton, who will collide for the WBC world featherweight title in a fiercely anticipated rematch.
Isaac Cruz is, of course, back in action too, with the fan-friendly bruiser looking to rejoin the world scene at 135 lbs.
