Dave Allen earned his final shot at the big leagues with a big win over Johnny Fisher last time out, but standing in his way is one fearsome boogeyman.
Dave Allen‘s record is nothing to write home about; with seven losses out of his 33 fights, Allen was written off by many years ago.
In truth, ‘The White Rhino’ has always been more capable than he’s let on, but a series of bad habits, poor preparation, and mismatched fights he took just for a quick payday have led ‘The Doncaster De La Hoya’ to this point.
But, after a controversial loss to Johnny Fisher, Allen vowed to train hard, to finally show what he can do, and stopped ‘The Romford Bull’ in the fifth round of their rematch, handing him his first defeat.
Now, Allen is training harder than ever for the fight of his life as he prepares to go to war against a bear-wrestling boogeyman.

Pat Brown says Dave Allen is locked in ahead of Arslanbek Makhmudov fight
After the Fisher win, Allen was reportedly given a list of names for his homecoming fight, including Otto Wallin and some others.
Allen wanted a rematch with Lenroy Thomas, but ended up choosing Arslanbek Makhmudov, as Allen believed the scarier the opponent, the harder he would train.
Makhmudov is 20-2 as a professional, having lost to Agit Kabayel via fourth-round stoppage and to Guido Vianello in the eighth round after his eye swelled up horrifically.
Allen could set up a fight with Anthony Joshua, Joseph Parker, or Deontay Wilder if he gets past Makhmudov, and his campmate Pat Brown has said he is leaving no stone unturned in preparation for his big night. Brown believes Allen would finish Wilder, too, if the pair ever came face to face.
Brown spoke on Allen’s opponent, and how it has changed the fan-favorite Brit, “Yeah, he’s a big lump. He looks scary.”
“Obviously, all these videos of him wrestling bears and all that, so it shows like intimidation, but you know Dave, I’ve never seen him training like I can’t even have a laugh and joke with him in the gym anymore. He’s just tunnel visioned.”
Footage has surfaced of Makhmudov wrestling a bear in his home country of Russia, though Brown refuses to read too much into that,
“No man is going out in the wild wrestling a grizzly bear that’s like on it big time because you get ripped limb from limb, but like these bears at the wrestling like where they live it’s kind of normal.”
Arslanbek Makhmudov is scary, but he is not invincible
Allen and Makhmudov will go head-to-head on October 11th in the Sheffield Arena, in Allen’s hometown, and will see ‘The White Rhino’ face ‘The Lion’ in a must-win fight for his career.
A win over Makhmudov will be a career-best, and will show Allen’s career still has life left in it.
It is hard to suggest who might come out on top, as Makhmudov is a scary operator, with 19 of his 20 wins coming by knockout, but is quite stiff, and can give punishment far better than he can take it.
Dave Allen | Arslanbek Makhmudov | |
Record | 24-7-2 | 20-2 |
KO% | 58% | 86% |
Weight in last fight | 265lbs | 265.75lbs |
Height & reach | 6’3″ & 75″ | 6’5.5″ & 76.5″ |
Best win | Johnny Fisher, Lucas Browne | Carlos Takam |
Kabayel showed the best way to defeat Makhmudov is with attacks to the body, something Allen is more than capable of doing if he gets his preparation and fitness right.
Allen’s record is deceptive, as fights such as the Frazer Clarke one could have played into Allen’s hands more if he had taken them as seriously as he should have.
With everything on the line, this is Dave Allen’s time to show what he can do.
