Daniel Dubois had a house party right before his showdown with Oleksandr Usyk.
On Saturday evening, the Englishman was ruthlessly knocked out by the pound-for-pound number one.
Just hours earlier, the fighter was at a gathering of approximately 70 people. Unsurprisingly, the boxing world is bemused. Johnny Nelson compared the Dubois party situation to Roberto Duran.
But while the combat sports world is up in arms about what went down, according to his coach, there was method behind the madness.

Daniel Dubois had a ‘party’ to up the energy and replicate Anthony Joshua fight
Don Charles has defended the pre-fight gathering that occurred before Daniel Dubois fought Oleksandr Usyk.
The boxing aficionado claims that the plan was to replicate what had happened before the Anthony Joshua victory and up the energy levels.
In an interview with talkSPORT, he explained: “That same gathering we used for the preparation on fight day for the Anthony Joshua fight. The gathering at the home was taken to the dressing room, that energy is what gave birth to what we saw in the ring walk, and we were victorious on that occasion.
“If it worked for you the first time, it’s highly likely you’re going to replicate it. There might have been more people for this second gathering, granted, to get more energy.
“I’m a logical man, the only reason why there was more people, was to increase the volume. It might appear like madness to a lot of people, but it’s the same method that got us the victory. Stan Dubois with his extraordinary methods, tried to replicate. That’s my take.”
