Daniel Dubois promises ‘chaos’ as he vows to finish ‘old man’ Oleksandr Usyk in massive rematch

Daniel Dubois will have a tough fight on his hands against Oleksandr Usyk, although he has a plan to “bring chaos” to Wembley Stadium.

The IBF world Heavyweight champion lost to “The Cat” in 2023, when Oleksandr Usyk knocked out Daniel Dubois in their match in Poland.

Since then, Dubois picked up a massive win over Anthony Joshua before booking a rematch with the undefeated champion, this time in his home country at Wembley Stadium.

This fight will be arguably the toughest of Dubois’s career, although he doesn’t seem to be taking Usyk too seriously if a recent interview is to be taken at face value

Daniel Dubois called Oleksandr Usyk an ‘old man’ ahead of their fight

It looks like Dubois is confident of beating Usyk on July 19, but he should be wary of overconfidence after labeling the undefeated champion an “old man”.

Dubois sat down with The Stomping Ground in the lead-up to his fight with Usyk and vowed to beat the “old man” and take the Undisputed Heavyweight title away from him at Wembley Stadium.

He also promised to “bring chaos” into the fight and do whatever he needs to do to end the 38-year-old’s unbeaten streak.

Dubois said: “This is my resurrection era. I’m really getting to the pinnacle of where I’m going to be at. I’m 27 years old, I’m in my prime, and I need to take it away from this old man and get all the belts.

“Well, it’s the facts, he’s 38 years old. You’re not going to get back that energy you had at 27. So that’s what I’m going to do: put it on him.

“I’m going to go in there and do what I have to do. Make it crazy. Make it chaos. Bring chaos on the night.

“Whatever it takes to win, I’m going to do it. He’s just a man, and I’ll just have to break him down, turn him old on the night, wear him out, open up those old wounds, and take the victory.”

That is easier said than done for Dubois, who is looking to be the only man to ever beat Usyk in a professional fight.

Oleksandr Usyk says Daniel Dubois may be a better fighter than in their first bout

While Dubois may be confident, Usyk isn’t sure if he is any better than in their first encounter, which ended in a KO win for “The Cat”.

Usyk recently spoke with DAZN, where he told former world champion Carl Frampton what he thought about Dubois ahead of their rematch.

The Ukrainian called him a “good boxer” and a “great fighter”, but was hesitant to call him a better fighter than in their first bout.

Usyk said: “Daniel is a good athlete, a good boxer, [he] has good skill. Daniel’s last three fights have been great wins. Hrgovic, Miller, and Anthony Joshua, he’s a great fighter.”

When asked if he was a better fighter than in 2023, Usyk responded with: “Maybe, yeah.”

Usyk and Dubois will face off for the world title on July 19 at Wembley Stadium.
