Daniel Dubois’ next foe could be rising Brit whose last fight ended with a shocking controversy

Daniel Dubois lost his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, and his chance at the undisputed crown, in his latest fight.

Daniel Dubois suffered his third career defeat at Wembley Stadium in his latest fight against Oleksandr Usyk.

This marks Dubois’ second loss to Usyk, and has left the Brit without a world title and ready to embark on the comeback trail.

With the loss largely criticized after a 70-person party at Dubois’ house, and accusations of Dubois quitting the fight, the Brit will need to come back stronger.

One man thinks he’s the perfect guy for the job, but is certain he can derail Dubois’ career even further.

David Adeleye wants Daniel Dubois after controversial win

15-1 David Adeleye has told Pro Boxing Fans that he is more than open to fighting Dubois next, provided he is able to get past his next opponent.

Adeleye has no small task ahead of him first, though, as he is set to face Filip Hrgovic on the undercard of Dillian Whyte vs Moses Itauma.

Dubois beat Hrgovic in 2024, and the Croatian ‘El Animal’ has since fought in a close slugfest with Joe Joyce, leading many to believe he is a shell of his former self.

Adeleye is coming off a big win of his own, albeit a controversial one. In his last fight, Adeleye won the British title against Jeamie TKV, though not in any usual manner.

Adeleye stopped TKV in the sixth round with a shot that came after the referee called a break, leading many to suggest the fight should have been a no-contest as TKV was in no fit state to continue after the foul.

Adeleye said in his recent interview of the Dubois fight, “That would be a good fight. Boxed in the same amateur club, would be a very good fight. Be interesting.”

David Adeleye vs Filip Hrgovic – The stats

With Adeleye vs Hrgovic upcoming, many are quick to write off the Brit on account of his lesser experience and loss to Wardley, though Hrgovic’s most recent outing inspired more questions than answers regarding his current form, as he fought in a war against Joyce, who has been finished since the Zhilei Zhang knockout losses.

Whilst some call it a mismatch, others think Hrgovic has had a lot taken out of him, especially in his loss to Dubois, and that Adeleye may be taking him on at just the right time.

Whilst it surely won’t be an easy night for either fighter, both men have a chance at success, with a win setting up an even bigger fight next, possibly against former IBF champion, Dubois.

In the meantime, it’s worth comparing some stats for both fighters, to see just how much of a chance each man has.
