Manny Pacquiao will aim to roll back the years on July 19th when he challenges Mario Barrios for his WBC World Welterweight title.
Pacquiao looks to become one of boxing’s oldest champions with a victory over Barrios, whose last win was against Fabian Maidana.
The fighter from the Philippines will be competing for the first time as a professional since 2021, when he was bested by Yordenis Ugas. However, Pacquiao competed in an exhibition fight in 2024.
Although some are doubting Pacquiao’s return, recent training footage has impressed fans.

Fans impressed by Manny Pacquiao’s recent training footage as fighter shows his speed
Despite going into the bout with Barrios 16 years older than the champion, Pacquiao is showing incredible speed in recent footage.
Posting to his Instagram account, @mannypacquiao, ‘Pac-Man’ posted a compilation of him going through some boxing drills.
Showing speed in his training, many fans were impressed by the footage. One user wrote, “If there’s someone to win a world title at 46, it’s Manny Pacquiao.”
Other words used in the comments included ‘legend,’ ‘the best,’ and ‘GOAT.’
One fan feels that Pacquiao is looking sharper now than when he did for his 2024 exhibition bout. His comment reads, “Manny wasn’t looking sharp during his exhibitions. Pac is looking like vintage Pac today. Barrios is about to feel old man power.”
Throughout the comment section of the video, fans were seemingly mostly impressed by what they seen from the boxing legend.
Mario Barrios is aiming to make the second defense of his welterweight title
Although many fans will be rooting for Pacquiao to defy the odds and win the title at 46, he has a tough challenge ahead of him.
With a record of 29-2-1, Barrios is aiming to make the second defense of his WBC World Welterweight title.
A win against Pacquiao would also be the first time Barrios was victorious as a world welterweight champion. In his first title defense, Barrios held Abel Ramos to a draw in Texas.
The fighter is also undefeated since 2022, when he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Keith Thurman.
As for Pacquiao, he is a four-time champion at welterweight. A win over Barrios would be the beginning of a remarkable fifth reign in the division.
