The slated November clash of Jake Paul and lightweight champion Gervonta Davis has once more come under fire, this time from a controversial MMA fighter-turned boxer.
Booking an exhibition boxing match with current WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis later this year, polarizing boxing upstart Jake Paul will fight a current world champion puncher for the first time in his young boxing career.

And coming under fire from all angles for his participation in a clash with the much smaller Davis, Paul has seen past rivals and enemies come out of the woodwork to hit out at the bout.
But a controversial former Bellator MMA star has raised his head above the parapet to take credit for the birth of Jake Paul in the boxing ring.
Dillon Danis brands Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis a ‘joke’ fight
Making his own return to the ring this weekend, outspoken former mixed martial arts star Dillon Danis has laid into Paul for booking a fight with the much smaller opponent Davis.
Himself taking on Warren Spencer in a rare mixed martial arts clash at Misfits Boxing 22, Danis has weighed in on the mismatch of Paul and Davis, where he boldly claimed he must be given credit for the emergence of the Ohio influencer in the ring.
“He’s (Gevonta Davis) a 125-pounder. He wants to be world champion. It’s the same thing as Mike Tyson. They’re [Davis and Jake Paul] going to have a light spar and then at the end they’re going to shake hands, and whatever,” Danis told The Stomping Ground.
“It’s ruining it (boxing),” Danis continued. “…When he loses to someone, you know, when he starts losing, it’s going to be about, ‘Oh, he was a YouTuber who tricked the world into making millions in money.”
“There’s no Jake Paul without me. This whole thing started with me.”
Jake Paul’s rivalry with Dillon Danis
Over the course of his young career in boxing, Paul has managed to find himself intertwined in a host of high-profile rivalries, including a spat with the above-mentioned Danis.
Fighting Paul’s elder sibling, Logan Paul, in an infamous 2023 grudge match, Danis suffered an eventual disqualification loss in the sixth round of their clash.
And reacting to Danis’ display in the lacklustre pairing, Jake Paul described Danis as one of the worst fighters to ever enter the ring or cage.
“He (Danis) talked so much s— and is one of the worst fighters I’ve ever seen,” Paul tweeted back in 2023.
