Conor McGregor throws support behind ‘proper savage’ heavyweight boxer after vintage display

Conor McGregor has shown respect for the 41-year-old heavyweight boxer who dominated in his headline bout in Manchester.

Derek Chisora was nothing short of impressive against Otto Wallin as the heavyweights clashed in the Co-Op Live Arena. Wallin was criticized by fans online, however, Chisora’s performance was nothing short of impressive.

Chisora’s win was his second in a row, as he defeated Joe Joyce in 2024 in another impressive display.

Former UFC champion McGregor was quick to show his appreciation for Chisora following the win as he spoke about the fighter on social media.

Following his impressive headline performance, Chisora was shown praise by McGregor online for his hearty performance in Manchester.

In a now-deleted tweet by the Irishman, McGregor wrote, “Give Chisora whatever he wants! A proper savage of a man! It’s who’s left, don’t forget that. And Chisora is LEFT! He’s not a southpaw but he is LEFT. And who’s left, Chisora is. Gone nowhere ever. CHISORA MY BROTHER HUGE CONGRATULATIONS.”

The MMA fighter was eager to show his appreciation, tweeting shortly after Chisora was declared the winner of the bout.

The English heavyweight would suffer a significant cut in round five of the bout, however, was able to apply significant pressure to his Swedish opponent.

Chisora’s performance also would cause Wallin to go to the canvas twice. The Swede was sent tumbling by Chisora in round 9, before receiving another count in the final seconds of the bout.

In terms of who Chisora may face next, the winner of Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker is a likely option as his win over Wallin would make him the IBF title challenger.

However, Chisora also had a unique call-out after the fight, indicating he would be interested in fights with Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk.

After Chisora and Wallin shared the ring for 12 hard-fought rounds, the pair of heavyweights were captured enjoying some food together.

In a video posted by Chisora, the caption reads “Five Guys with Otto Wallin.”

The two were in good spirits as they shared the heartwarming post-fight moment, having fought a tough fight between the pair of them.

Chisora shared a moment with Wallin before thanking his opponent’s team.
