Conor Benn reacts as the UKAD officially clears him to fight as talks with Chris Eubank Jr heat up

Since failing two tests for the banned substance clomifene in 2022, Conor Benn has fought tirelessly outside of the boxing ring to clear his name.

Conor Benn has not fought in Britain since 2022 because of two failed drug tests later that year in a saga that saw his British license revoked and a subsequent suspension.

Despite not being cleared to fight in Britain, the 28-year-old has fought twice in the United States, picking up two unanimous decision victories, and maintaining his undefeated record.

Conor Benn reacts as UKAD clears him to fight in Britain

In October 2022, ‘The Destroyer’ was scheduled to fight Chris Eubank Jr in a huge British grudge match after years of tension between the two.

Of course, the fight was canceled because of Benn’s failed tests, however, it has now been given a big boost following the UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) statement that they will not appeal the National Anti-Doping panel’s decision to lift his suspension.

Earlier this month, the NADP lifted Benn’s suspension, but the decision on whether he could fight in the UK still fell into the hands of the UKAD, as they had a right to appeal the decision and announced that they were considering their position.

Despite that, this Thursday, the UKAD announced that they will not lodge an appeal, meaning that Benn is now cleared to once again fight in the UK.

It didn’t take long for Benn to react to the announcement as he took to social media to notify his fans of his feelings.

Conor Benn instructs his team to make Mario Barrios fight instead of Chris Eubank Jr

This past October, Chris Eubank Jr won the vacant IBO World Middleweight title after a round-seven finish over Kamil Szeremeta, and following the fight, Eubank Jr and Benn squared off in the ring.

Fans of course salivated over the idea of this fight finally happening, and with Benn’s recent good news, it seemed as though things could progress in the right direction.

However, the 28-year-old has thrown a spanner in the works as he has instructed his team to instead try and make a fight against Mario Barrios.

Barrios is the current WBC welterweight champion and recently fought to a draw against Abel Ramos on the undercard of Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson.
