Chris Eubank Jr lashes out at Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren at shocking press conference

Chris Eubank Jr held nothing back on Wednesday, unleashing a volatile outburst directed at Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren during their unexpectedly eventful press conference.

The 35-year-old will face obscure opponent Kamil Szeremeta on October 12, featuring on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol’s undisputed light heavyweight clash.

But, instead of celebrating the mouth-watering main event between two of boxing’s pound-for-pound stars, it could be said that Wednesday’s media day went down a vastly different path.

Eubank Jr completely stole the show, in fact, and took the opportunity to pounce on the sport’s most accomplished promoters, including Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn.

Chris Eubank Jr blasts ‘scumbags’ Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren

Since his tenth-round stoppage victory over Liam Smith – avenging his previous defeat to the Brit – Eubank Jr has been inactive for over a year.

However, now he is seemingly looking to get his career back on track by appearing on a stacked Riyadh Season card headed by boxing power broker Turki Alalshikh.

Away from the ring, though, the son of boxing legend Chris Eubank has always remained outspoken, something that he has, once again, demonstrated to the world’s media.

“Every other promoter out here is a scumbag,” Eubank Jr said at Wednesday’s press conference. “You’ve got Frank Warren behind me – [he’s] been lying and cheating his way through boxing for the last couple decades.

“Kalle Sauerland had me locked up in a terrible contract in the last few years, squeezing money out of me at every opportunity – scumbag.

“Eddie Hearn and Frank Smith – they did everything they could to make this fight [between me and Conor Benn], and still went ahead after knowing that he was on steroids.

“The only promoter I know for sure isn’t a scumbag is his excellency, Turki Alalshikh.”

Can Ben Shalom reignite Chris Eubank Jr’s career?

Since linking up with Boxxer promoter Ben Shalom, Eubank Jr has continued to express a desire to reach the upper echelons of his sport.

For him, success is largely defined by the acquisition of a world title – something that evaded him when he challenged former WBA super middleweight champion George Groves back in 2018.

But now, the Brit has put his faith into Shalom, who will no doubt be looking to secure the most lucrative opportunities for his charge at 168 lbs.

Still, there is no guarantee that Eubank Jr will get to realize his ultimate ambition, with Mexican star Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez currently reigning supreme in the super middleweight division.
