Former UFC star Darren Till scored his most brutal KO to date last time out as he demolished fellow MMA fighter Luke Rockhold in the main event of Misfits 22.
While many considered Misfits to be nothing but a gimmick of a promotion, pitting low-level influencers against one another, its latest event truly delivered as Darren ‘The Gorilla’ Till showcased his skill and power to secure his fourth boxing win.
Till seems to be the biggest success story in terms of MMA fighters making the jump to boxing, though Misfits 22’s undercard also saw Tony Ferguson stop Salt Papi to break his eight-fight losing streak.
After Till’s big win over Luke Rockhold, there was one man he jumped to call out, a man who sat ringside to watch his potential future opponent – Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch.

‘The Cobra’ vs ‘The Gorilla’ could make millions, says Eddie Hearn
In an interview with The Stomping Ground, Eddie Hearn spoke highly of the Misfits event, which also saw ‘the next Floyd Mayweather’ J’Hon Ingram score a KO win, as well as Ty Mitchell call out Diego Pacheco after beating Sean Hemphill, Canelo’s sparring partner.
Hearn was asked about Froch vs Till, and said of the fight,
“This all comes down to how you feel inside […] Do you really wanna do this? You could lose to Darren Till. Do you want the money? Now, Carl’s smart with his money, he’s made a lot of money, he definitely doesn’t need the money, but I think it does well on PPV and that’s always something you’ve got to consider.”
Hearn continued, suggesting just how much Froch could stand to make for the fight,
“Carl’s gonna make, I don’t know, three… four million… five… these are the kind of numbers he could make for that fight.”
The top Matchroom promoter revealed he would be willing to be involved with the event if it does take place, as he would be supporting Froch. He suggested he would like to be part of Froch’s team.
Froch has not fought since 2014, when he defeated George Groves.
Carl Froch responds to Darren Till’s in-ring callout
Following Till’s callout of Froch, who left the venue swiftly after, the Nottingham-born Hall-of-Famer spoke on the fight between him and Till,
“Can this fight with Darren Till happen? Can it make any sense? Do I want it to happen? Realistically, probably not. Listen, I retired 11 years ago. […] When the desire’s gone, you’re not gonna jump in a boxing ring.”
He continued, though, that, the fight would be easy money for him, given the caliber of Till,
“Why would I bother? Well, easy money. […] I’m thinking to myself, hang on a minute, they’re giving money away here with these fights because Darren Till’s absolutely f—— useless. I’m not being funny, listen, I’m talking about at professional boxing level. […] Let’s be honest, this would be a mismatch, even at 48 years old.”
It remains to be seen whether the eye-watering millions will be enough to lure ‘The Cobra’ out of retirement.
